Having just watch the destroying of Fife in the CC final and the likelihood of Belfast winning the league for the 2nd time in a row, I believe Belfast are what I would like the Sheffield Steelers to be in the current modern day hockey world.
I watched the CC final and Belfast played fast, in your face hard hitting hockey. In fact I reckon Belfast made more hits in one game than we’ve done all season….
Guess what that’s won them yet another trophy and will likely win them the league.
Take note Tony and Fox. This is the type of hockey that wins you trophies. Not playing well for 20 mins a game.

I do like adam keefe,s type of teams, they do seem to be well drilled and can play with that edge, i also personally prefer coaches that are vocal and animated on the bench. They look a good bet to win all this season
To be fair Fife didn't deserve to lose by that many, but Belfast were just much better, which they should be with a superior budget and playing staff......If we're still playing well for only 20 mins a game when we play them in a couple of weeks, then we'll also get beat by a similar score line.
Not every team can win a home game vs Fife now can they....
We played what was in front of us, no disrespect to Fife, but they just aren't close to the level the Giants can produce. Trophy is a trophy end of the day and nice to add more silverware and hopefully we can add more to that.
They have certainly become the most dominant team in recent years with five out of eight trophies going to them since the 18-19 season, and likely more to come this year.
The only blot on their copybook is a relatively poor showing in the play-offs (only one win in the Elite era), which they will be big favourites for this year if they maintain their current form (although the Devils haven't lost in the play off finals since our epic win in 2017!)

Widening the topic somewhat, just goes to show how irrelevant a competition the CC is.
All those group stage games before Christmas
(Cardiff, Guildford and Coventry all qualified from their group of three!), Blaze and Flames then ended up playing each other in the quarter finals (not them again
)!!!
We end up with a one sided, borefest of a final in midweek March, the outcome of which could have been predicted back in August.
Congratulations to Belfast but for crying out loud please scrap the current format. Have a preseason tournament in September and get it over and done with when our hockey appetites are sharpest.
Stop dragging it out until the New Year.
Cup tourney at the start as an appetiser. League then as a main course, and play offs as dessert.
