With regards to the tragedy which happened to Adam Johnson may I suggest that making Neck Guards compulsory in the league should be considered. Efforts to prevent any similar incidents would be a fitting response to what has happened. We already do this for our juniors but even our adult players are someone's child.

They should be made mandatory like the are/were in junior hockey. If anything comes out of this, mandatory neckguards should be considered by the EIHL and EIHA.

At least the protective undershirts, there can be zero arguments against those.

I can't see how they reasonably cannot make wearing them mandatory after last night's tragic events.

I see that the AHL Providence Bruins players ALL wore neck guards last night, this is such a simple step to take.

Oxford Stars have just made them mandatory and purchased for each player too.

I think the need to be made compulsory. The neck guards now are far less restrictive than the ones years ago.

I think they should be compulsory too. As mentioned above, Oxford Stars have already taken it on board, without waiting for a directive. Good for them!

I personally found the below article an interesting read.

It's another yes vote for mandatory neck guards for me. I really can't see an argument against them.

If it's already mandatory in juniors then players will not know any different if/when they turn pro having always played with one.

I don't see this as any different to the adoption of face masks, some resistance from older players but now everyone is used to them.
