I know the first time back at the arena will be a difficult time for most especially the players and officials but when Mr Simms welcomes the away team, supporters etc and the officials for game how about we no longer boo them and actually give them a clap and welcome them to sheffield? We are as a city known for being friendly why can't we show that to the away fans and the officials?
After the awful scenes on Saturday we need to be a family now, the rivalry with Notts has to end NOW and welcome them as friends.

I personally have never booed any team or any official, perhaps now is the time to tone down the hyperbole that some games attract. Most long standing fans of all teams see through the charade and have nothing to do with it. The vast majority of fans get along with each other quite well.
PA system volume - we have noticed this season that the volume has been increasingly uncomfortably loud.
When we eventually do return to the arena it does not seem appropriate to have David Simms bellowing out at us as normal.
A quieter more genteel approach seems more appropriate and less hostile.

Sport is entertainment, part of that is the pantomime performative element of booing and cheering. I don't think people boo out of hate when the opposition or officials come out on to the ice, Screaming abuse at them is a different matter, let's not lose sight of the difference.
I think I'll be going against the grain here, so I'll have to make my apologies in advance
Just so I'm clear, hurling abuse, obscenities' etc is not the angle I'm taking here. That's NOT acceptable behaviour.
We play a competitive sport which is a results based business. I want the arena to be a place where the away teams dread visiting. This then gives us a competitive advantage.
I do get that booing is not particularly politically correct and isn't something I partake in myself. I won't be clapping the opposition all nicey, nicey though either.
I used to love the days when we used to shout and boo at the opposite number's Pantomime Villain. I remember Andy Bezeau sticking his tongue out to the little kids when they were all banging on the glass......and Barry Nieckar laughing at the home made donkey pictures in the crowd during the warm up, even pointing them out to his team mates.
One of my favourite ever crowd moments, other than hiding the drum in Nottingham was a fan standing up getting his wallet out and waving money at the ref after quite a few questionable decisions. Harmless IMO.
Happy times........such a sterile world we live in these days......no offence meant.

I'm not particularly one for booing, but I have done with some of the players over the years who have deliberately made themselves pantomime villains.
Sport is about entertainment and passion and I have teams I dislike more than others, the Panthers being top of my list, but I certainly don't hate them and I enjoy chatting with their supporters at the playoffs.
We're rivals when the action is taking place on the ice, but we're fellow hockey supporters before and after games. Hockey is a minority sport which we all have a passion for and if there's one positive to come out of the awful event this week, it's to see supporters up and down the country and across the world all pulling together. There's some lovely tributes on The Cage.....It's worth taking a look.

I do think one thing every single fan can agree on, is when the Sheffield Steelers & Nottingham Panthers eventually play each other again, the pre-game applause and cheers in tribute to Adam Johnson could be the loudest ever seen in the arena(s)!
Just for this game though eh

Thanks Doom. Agree with all of that. I've read most of the comments on The Cage although I don't have an account on there. On this occasion they have our back and we have theirs.Doom wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 3:07 pmAbsolutely agree Mark.mark wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 2:31 pmSport is entertainment, part of that is the pantomime performative element of booing and cheering.
