What an effort that was. We withstood a lot of pressure from a very good team, but stood tall and ended up with a very well deserved victory.

I've been concerned about how Cardiff and Belfast are stacking up on the forward talent, but if we can shut down a team like Sparta I don't think we need to worry.

Without question, the highest level of hockey I've ever seen at the Arena . Absolutely incredible.

The Diffley call is terrible - it's a 2 minute interference call. Have now seen replays and he hits shoulder and only barely grazes the guys helmet. The boarding call on their player is also really soft, but I'm pretty sure they felt they had to give 5+game after they had for Diff.

Sparta were excellent, Greenfield was better. He's properly stolen one for us, but that shouldn't take away from how well the rest of the team performed. Janutainen was outstanding, Ciampini also.

The noise after the Diffley penalty expired was something else. Special night.

That was an absolutely amazing win, I have to admit to thinking we'd lose. What a tremendous effort!

Whilst Greenfield will quite rightly get the plaudits, you've just got to admire how good Kevin Tansey has been for us and what superb recruitment it was by Fox.

We didn't pick up Tansey from one of the top European leagues, he came from Denmark which is a lower standard than the EIHL. His +/- numbers on his Danish team were quite poor, which is why he was the one defenceman we signed last year I was a little concerned about.

If ever a player turned out to be the perfect fit for a team and a league it has to be Kevin Tansey.

He's gone from average player on a Danish team, to arguably the best player in the EIHL.

He's started this season like he finished the last, top of our +/- in the CHL.

Looking at the CHL stats to date another outstanding number is his hits. He's comfortably top with 11, the next highest defenceman being Huttula with 2.

At his age I doubt he'll be picked up by a top league now, so hopefully he'll make Sheffield his home for a few more years.

Tansey has been fantastic, but again, this is why +/- is a terrible stat in isolation in terms of judging players :D

Jokes aside, what an absolute beast he is. Best D man we've had in Sheffield since 1st season Bolibruck

My view was very different to normal, whilst sunning myself in Spain, I think it’s the most complete Steelers performance I’ve ever seen.

There’s a couple of people on here that don’t necessarily believe that we should compete in the CHL, but nights like this and the last away game prove that there’s more to than just playing in the EIHL.

The positivity this and the other result create cannot be underestimated, as well raising the profile of the Sheffield Steelers across Europe which could in turn attract even better players to help us win trophies domestically.

Gutted I couldn’t be there. Sounds like the atmosphere was excellent. We even started on time!
