Noticed at the game against the steelers the other day the attendance was only 1200,,,, was really hoping the fans would get behind the team with bigger numbers but it must be hard to pull them in if the standard is not there consistently. Have always wanted fife to do well with their history etc but they are struggling result / crowd wise again,,,,,

They broke their own record for a pre-season game attendance, and had multiple 2,000+ crowds, on top of their first sell-out against us for the first time in a couple of years. The fans responded, but getting beatings in much the same fashion as last season drove them away fast. Granted they've had injury issues more than most, but their quality is lacking a bit too much, particularly on the scoring front.

Plus, it was always going to take more than one summer to sort them out, especially with zero Brit legacy. Full local junior system and 15 years completely squandered by Todd Dutiaume and Jeff Hutchins, not even one 4th line forward Flyers produced in any of that time.

I do get why fans would stay away, if most games are a foregone conclusion. I wonder if dropping to the NIHL would help here with regards to bringing some Brits through? It's got to be very difficult being in the EIHL and only winning a handful of games every season.

The new owners certainly have their work cut out that is for sure. It's encouraging to see that they had two decent crowds pre-season, so it shows that there is interest if success on the ice can be improved. Winning regularly in the NIHL might help here?

I very much doubt the NIHL would take them on, so much of it is based in the Midlands and further South, I can imagine Solway making their case to join was tough enough. Combined with that zero Brit legacy, and only a handful of imports allowed, they'd struggle at the bottom there for at least a few years, as there are virtually no NIHL quality Scots to pick up. They nearly all went down south growing up as that's where the best opportunities were. Solway are struggling again near the bottom after a couple of years in it, again a large part of the lack of Scottish talent able to compete at that level. They'd have to tempt some up north, but that means spending above the going rate, and we know where most of the time that tends to lead...

The tougher but "correct" way would be getting the best Scots they can that are young enough to develop from playing time, while getting the best imports possible to both help coach, and close a bit of the compete gap on the ice.
