In further defence of Fox, there has been so much disruption around the team that can not have helped. Everyone was positive in the praise of his signing of Seitz, we thought we were signing a goal machine, the reality was somewhat difference. The ‘poker’ game that Whistle played over the summer left us short on British players, the Neilson debacle of going on strike compounded this. The Pu incident, Gentile buggering off, Watling coming back half fit, getting fit, now out injured for the season. None of this can have helped the squad.

Belfast also usually tend to play half a dozen friday-sunday weekends per season, with the sunday games typically against teams playing sat-sun, where you could argue the extra day's rest on the saturday is an advantage (even if they're travelling).steeler pete wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2026 9:02 amGeography also plays a part. I do think they get an easier run in to challenge cup. Also they do play a lot of double header games for logistical reasons and whilst some are split results many are not. That has cost us dearly both in Belfast and at home this season.
