New poster and also new to ice hockey and the Steelers.
First game was the Panthers cup home game. Which was great. Caught the bug and have since brought the family (Mrs and Daughter and if they’re not available I bring the best mate)
I feel confident that I know a bit about sport season tickets as a Bradford City season ticket holder.
I looked at season tickets, but it’s not financially viable and will have to be a pick and choose situation. But there’s some good points raised above.
The cost per game is quite high, I didn’t look at the total as compared to football you get more games. But the cost per game isn’t that much of a saving on buying individual tickets.
I think building a hardcore of support and increasing season ticket holders would be a better way of doing it, but that’s my opinion. Obviously pay per game tickets cost more…
I know the season is going that well, but we’re all hooked and have done 4 games since the panthers cup game and have tickets for two more.
I do have questions, about the squad and how it all works but I’ll save that for another thread.
With regards to the tv deal, I think there needs to be one. It may have to be a compromise with the teams to begin with and take a small fee, that builds per year. I can only see EIHL growing. It’s so under rated in my opinion and I think we’re about to see a boom. I was shocked there’s not a tv deal already.

Late to this discussion but in terms of sponsorship, and the various thoughts around whether there is value in it for companies and whether clubs such as Steelers are doing enough, I noted last week I think that O2 have been announced as the new headline sponsor of both the SSE Arena, which will now be known as the O2 Belfast, and also the Giants themselves, who will be known as the O2 Belfast Giants. Both on a 10 year deal I believe. Thats significant, and will give them a sizeable advantage I expect in the coming years. It also proves that there are companies out there that could see a value in such a deal.
I also noted with interest that Tony did a little interview on Radio Sheffield between periods 2 / 3 on Saturday and when asked what his priorities were for the next 2-3 years, now a new deal has been secured for long term tenancy at the arena, he was clear that it was improving corporate sponsorship offerings. I suspect the 2 things are very related - Tony has seen that and knows we need some of that.

Sounds like the Steelers are ‘on course’ for a record number of season ticket holders:

You’ll forgive me for not quite agreeing with the article when a number of ‘more great seats’ are available for people that did not renew before the early bird deadline.

Call it a mental block or a touch or amnesia but I dont think I realised that if you didn't get your season ticket before the early bird deadline, you actually lost it!!
I thought you only lost the ability to get it cheaper! I always thought you had till a second date (mid July) to still renew your season ticket, albeit at the now dearer price!!

Having never had a season ticket or likely ever will. I’m not qualified to understand the rules. However, if for arguments sake, existing season tickets seats have already been released because the current holder(s) haven’t renewed during the early bird period, then I’m sure there would be some uproar?Jayboy wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2026 9:57 pmCall it a mental block or a touch or amnesia but I dont think I realised that if you didn't get your season ticket before the early bird deadline, you actually lost it!!

The cynic in me suggests with the early bird deadline extended due to how ‘payday’ fell (I’m paid on the 15th of each month) and now saying that further prime seats have been released, suggests that we are in fact struggling slightly with the numbers and renewals?
Only a thought and opinion of course.

But I am pretty sure the early bird offer was a financial reward only for existing season ticket holders to take up the renewal offer, it didn't exclude you from your seat if you didn't take up the early offer. Season ticket holders then surely had to a second deadline to buy their seat before it was released... Say the end of June? that way you still got 10 month to pay on a direct debit basis if needed? The memory may be playing tricks on me

There may of course be ST holders who didn't renew by the early bird deadline but then also informed the club that they wouldn't be renewing at all.
Sheffield Steelers season ticket policy would suggest that season tickets are now on general sale? So if existing season ticket holders haven't renewed before the early bird deadline, their current seat is fair game, even if they plan or renewing it at the more expensive price.Jayboy wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2026 2:38 amBut I am pretty sure the early bird offer was a financial reward only for existing season ticket holders to take up the renewal offer, it didn't exclude you from your seat if you didn't take up the early offer.
