Yep, he had some decent chances last year but failed to bury them. Maybe A confidence issue at play.Jimmy o wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2026 6:53 pmFair point but I would still expect him to get more than 1 point in the whole of a season.paul johnston wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2026 5:36 pmIm not surprised that hes gone, and when think about it less surprised than others that it's to the Giants
Cole fulfils a hard checking, physical, hard working fourth line role. Expectations of him racking up pts are ridiculous.
Sadly our fans and I'd also say our coach don't see the value of this. Keefe on the other hand encourages his teams to play hard, physical on the forecheck.

I must confess I didn't realise it was that bad.Jimmy o wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2026 6:53 pmFair point but I would still expect him to get more than 1 point in the whole of a season.paul johnston wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2026 5:36 pmIm not surprised that hes gone, and when think about it less surprised than others that it's to the Giants

I think sometimes players are more suited to certain coaches styles.
Looking at the output from Whistle last season it was a little down on when he played for Fox. Maybe Shudra will be more suited to the hard nosed hockey that Keefe plays and Whistle more suited to Fox hockey..
Looking back i guess the writing was on the wall. When Heard got tossed out of the game against Guildford in the playoff qualifier, it was IBN who stepped up to take his place rather than Shudra.
At only 23 IBN still has plenty of time to develop and Fox clearly trusts him, whereas Shudra is probably already nearing his peak.

I like Cole and think he has more to offer. I also think Belfast will bring out the best in him. Good move on his part I believe. He will certainly want to prove a point when he plays against us. next season.

I like Shudra (snr and jnr) so it's sad to see him go. However, it will probably do him good to see him get out of what I imagine is probably a comfortable situation here in Sheffield; diamonds are made under pressure.

Will be interesting to see if a different coach gets more out of shudra,,,,, would of thought that what we have seen of him is as much as you are going to get,,,,, has had time to develop seeing he is about 27

It will be a good experience for a 27 year old living and working in Belfast for a year or two (I think he's spent most of his life in and around Sheffield). It's a great city and opportunity to energise his career under Keefe. Hope he does well- except against us of course!

Ouch, that is a definite blow in my eyes. I thought he and IBN were a combo for the future…Clear The Zone wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2026 7:40 pmKyle Watson signs for Fife.

Perhaps another victim of the constant team shuffling and editing of last season.
Hopefully this is just a season in the wilderness thing, and a quick return with more experience.
