Went back in time to Steelers 25-26.
Poor pp.
Poor faceoffs.
Outshooting opposition but ineffective.
Young brits benched early.
3rd period worse period after doing so-tired legs and imports making d zone mistakes.
Changed lines even before young brits benched.
Soft. All 6 ft 6 of Gettinger getting a stick rib tickle from Racine with nothing back. Thank goodness for Erkamps.
Rockwood was better today than has been. I liked Archambaults and Erkamps game tonight.

Erkamps and Tesla are my favourite signings. Although Tesla was quiet tonight.paul johnston wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2026 9:26 pmWent back in time to Steelers 25-26.

Racine needed a good hiding just for winding our bench up when scoring the 2nd goal. Imagine if he’d done that in front of Dennis Vial?
Gettinger would be on the next plane home for me.

Every major error ended up in our net tonight. And we still got 2 points. Gotta be happy with that.
First 2 periods definitely in our favour despite the score line at end of P1. Missed a couple of grade As in the first which make it a different game. 3rd period not great and definitely advantage Guildford. But, Balmas does what he does and we get it in to OT.
OT fairly cagey although a couple of good chances. We actually have a variety of PS weapons though now Archambault, Teissala, Balmas, Juusola, Rockwood. Definitely feel more confident going in to shootouts now.
PP will take a bit of time. Belfast for example scored their first pp goal of the season tonight - after 11 unsuccessful PPs. Players are still finding their groove at this stage of the season.
IBN was not having a great game - no issue in his ice time being cut as a result. There's a protection angle there in terms of his development too. We're also in a hole at 0-3. Most coaches are shortening the bench if they want to get back in to it. I thought Steele took a knock but might be wrong.

When Greenfield plays in net we can only play 14 outskating imports.
Including Stucker, we have 15, so somebody has to sit out.
Stucker was the last arrival, so I guess he's considered the 'spare'.
When Brine plays, I'd expect to see Stucker ice.

I'd take a 33% Powerplay any time!DSLSteeler wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2026 8:57 pm
Another positive, whilst PP stats are currently below par (2 from 6 if you count the 5 on 3 as a single penalty as it was virtually a full overlap), the PK is flawless so far (0 from 6)
