I’m going to start by saying the team as a whole are exceeding my expectations especiallly considering the amount of players missing through adversity injury, covid etc.Aaron has brought in some good replacements in the likes of Polak and sointu. Very proud of the players and how they’ve bought into what the club is aiming to achieve. Latal, Mosey, Todd, Vallerand have in my opinion been great ambassadors for the team.

This may sound over critical and it probably is however I’m going to say it, Justin for me isn’t producing enough for a top 6 centre. Whether that’s down to the constant change in lines, our style of play, underlying injury I don’t know. He sees the ice well and his passes are top draw at the start of the season he was a different player to the one we’re seeing now full of grit and the talisman of the team forever talking to his line mates. That passion seems to have left in more recent times, and he’s become just another body filling the roster. I’ve no idea the wage he’s commanding but I’d assume he isn’t cheap looking through his CV. Pre season I had him down as a 15-20 goal point a game player. He’s falling well below that we’re very lucky the likes of Latal, and Mosey are producing beyond what previous numbers suggest, I like to see more end product from Hodgman and I have no doubt if we were further back in the league this question would of been raised a while back.

Hodgman has never been a player who’s going to net a ton of goals, 15 is the most he’s notched in his 15 year pro career to date. He is a pass first centreman which is why really, in a settled side which we’ve not had the luxury of this season, he should be paired with snipers who can make the best use of his playmaking ability.

Having him centring the likes of Sointu (also more of a playmaker) and Traversa (energy forward) is not going to get him as good of an assist return as he’d get centring Dowd and Vallerand for example. Although he still has 15 points (2+13) in league play and (4+22) in all competitions.

Although not regularly deployed on the PK, he is +9 on the season and has 56% face-off success. His leadership qualities and positivity are also strong attributes to me.

I like Hodgman. I agree injuries and line changes have had an effect on his play so I’d like to see a more settled period and would hope he’d be back to the player he was.

Can't argue with any of that to be fair.
