I don't have a problem giving credit where its due, and the club, Tony and most of its staff do a fantastic job, especially in the continued generation of income, through sponsorship, 50/50, SOYB and new blood support.
My issues in past have always come down to a few policies or the slack management regarding the clubs relationship with its ever loyal fan base from years past and the proven loyalty for the club many of us have proven time over, year on year. The way that then plays out on public social media on even official club accounts and printed media..

There's no arguing with the fact that Tony Smith, and others, have done a fantastic job. Many of us remember the dark days of the Norton Lea ownership. At that time I didn't think the club had any chance of an extended existence. I have no idea about the internal politics of the club, nor do I want to know. All I want is a club that communicates properly with its fan base. Plus a team that is genuinely competing for trophies. I do get that not all players are signed up within a week or two of the end of season but it’s annoying them waiting this long to announce players who signed weeks ago, like the Brandon announcement today.
I’m sure there’s still plenty to come throughout the summer so give us some bigger news now.

I don't think they are lagging at all, we don't know how many have already signed up and announcements are being staged to keep the club in the media headlines for as long as possible. In addition if there are a few crackerjacks signed up it gives opposition teams less time to respond with an appropriate counter.

Cardiff have announced quite a few signings. Apart from the usual quibbling on the Inferno, it doesn't seem to be doing them any harm. As I said before, doing things "because we've always done it that way" doesn't show any sign of change, or desire to change.mark wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 9:56 amI don't think they are lagging at all, we don't know how many have already signed up and announcements are being staged to keep the club in the media headlines for as long as possible. Plus - the hockey world is very small and very gossipy. For instance, 2 players who played for the same team last season, meet up for a drink. Player A says "who have you signed for next season?". Player B "Sheffield Steelers - but don't tell anyone". Yeah, right.

I would rather they took their time to make the right signings. I will start to be concerned if we are still short as we approach the end off July.

I don’t buy this getting a counter signing idea. People , players don’t work like that. We’ve had supposedly crackerjacks signed and announced late who've turned out to be lazy hasbeens. So we bin them a get someone new in. Is that so we can ‘top trump’ our opponents.mark wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 9:56 amI don't think they are lagging at all, we don't know how many have already signed up and announcements are being staged to keep the club in the media headlines for as long as possible. Sorry I just don’t buy it.

I'm not sure any club in this league waits to see who others have signed and try to out-do them/change their plans accordingly. If they have confidence in their plans/player signings just crack on. They can only sign based on available players and budget limitations.
I think the initial post was more directed at off ice presentation etc

Other teams know who we’ve signed already through agents, we all pick from the same pool of players at the top end of the league and agents will flog them around to the highest bidder.
In some cases opposing coaches may even know a player is choosing us before Fox does.

I would do things in a slightly different way.
Brit Re-signings only in April/first week in May.
No new signings until 1st August then announce 1 a day for 12-14 days.
