Steelers doing “just enough” effort wise to beat a turgid Manchester outfit who will battle with Fife for the wooden spoon.
Good effort with depleted numbers.
Horrific officiating from Dean Smith as per usual, and Jared VanWormer was lucky to escape a match penalty after he appeared to strike the linesman.

Great effort in the end. A big battling performance. What did everyone think of the hit on Latal? Big but legal?
They certainly push the boundaries of physicality. The refs called some soft pens on them and seemed to leave the biggie, dangerous ones.

I'd have to see the Latal hit again, but my immediate thought was that it was high and should have been called.

Not sure about the hit but the aftermath was very apparent. The poor guy had no idea where he was or how to get to the bench initially. Poor reffing not to recognise his condition and using the whistle to ensure his safety.

I think we ended the night with 12 players, that can't be good news for wednesday night against Fife, they may be a poor side in the main but they can and will roll over 12 players, given even a sniff of beating the ill or injury hit Steelers!

It was in front of me, didn't really notice the height of it, like you say would like to see it again.
However he looked totally dazed and was concerned he was just going to crumple as you could see him sort of wobble whilst trying to get his bearings which seemed to take a worryingly long time.

I got the feeling it was perhaps similar to when Nickerson was ejected and received his big ban in the that he tried to slam the door that wasn't there and inadvertently pushed the linesman, could be wrong though.SteelerBlade wrote: ↑Sat Oct 30, 2021 9:55 pm

Strangely I felt that was our most solid performance of the season.
Passing was sharper and for the majority of the time there wasn't any major cock ups, it was all crisp and clean.
I still think we need a big forward, someone who is a bit of a deterrent to the bully boy antics of the Brolls and Springers of the league. Not saying we need someone who is gonna drop he gloves but someone who will stop everyone trying to get a rise out of Deluca and Vallerand because at the moment to me Dowd is the only guy who will sort of fight back as we saw last night when he took a dubious hit and gave it back.
I thought Sam Jones had perhaps his best game for the club with plenty of ice time. Was nice to see him not seemingly being the 7th D Man.

Just listened to the podcast.
Was nice to hear Barry praising Rok’s performance and admitting he has been below par himself. Hopefully he’s getting himself sorted and we’ll see the real Barry Brust. I also thought it showed he is interested and wants to play well for us because I was having doubts although they said he had a good game on Friday.
Thought last nights game was outstanding from us with such a short bench and I enjoyed it. Was not impressed with Manchester’s attitude and thought they thoroughly deserved to be booed off. If they were anything like a decent team they’d have won that game without the rough stuff by just outplaying us.
If we’re still as short benched on Wed and Sat next week we’ll be in trouble.
They were worried on the podcast about not being able to entertain the fans with such a short bench. I’d agree if it becomes a long term issue but I was proud of our team performance last night.
Hope Latal wasn’t too badly concussed. As we’ve seen before that can be career ending.

A bit odd I felt it was the most entertaining HOCKEY game of the season from purely gameplay.steeler pete wrote: ↑Sun Oct 31, 2021 10:23 am

Perhaps there wasn't enough of the steelers razzmatazz as was tweeted this week, whatever that means.
Perhaps with being down to 3 lines it allowed the players to keep in the game, I don't know but it certainly felt a lot more of a focused effort
