Mike Torchia was another netminder often overlooked, especially has he had to backup Mike O'Neil, and only played around 20/25 games, but he was a fantastic player, came to play every night and was a huge part of that team.. Especially in the dressing room, I would happily take that kind of keeper now, Pasi Riatenen was another backup to a stud goalie, Dobson was awsome, Pasi didn't get the credit he deserved.. But I would have someone as good now any day of the week..

Where has last year’s Glasgow Clan netminder gone? He does not appear to have signed anywhere but he had good stats especially in the AHL. He is only in his late 20s and he is 6 ft 5.
Shane Starrett I’d bet he’s our next tender to be announced Fox said he was a big fan of the recently signed goalie. He impressed last season.

Clan offered Starett a new deal but he told them he wanted to remain in North America, he came to Europe to play a full season as he was coming off a few injuries and teams seemed reluctant to take a chance on him in NA. Perhaps no contract was forthcoming so he has had to look elsewhere like the Steelers, I don't think he would want to be part of a tandem though instead be the main guy everynight.

Gimme Luka Gracnar!

Made pro debut in EBEL at 16/17. International debut at 18 & even now heading to his prime years at 28 is consistently above .90%

I think you could be right with this prediction
Trying to sleuth it out and not doing a very good job 😂

If I am, I’m putting lottery numbers on! 🤣 Don’t think it will be him but I’ve got hope 😏

Simms did say that the new NM had a reference from a player who played with us last year. Had a quick look through but only two players could lead to Gracnar.

Rok - Fellow Slovenian NM. That’s the only reference.
Nico Feldner. Would have been playing in Salzburg juniors when Gracnar was in the main squad.

I’ve also got the feeling that Tuesdays announcement might well be our starting NM. Which is why I’m holding on to the optimism of Gracnar. Considering Ostlund is a 2 year deal we’re likely going to give him the time to settle in with university etc. Bettauer is a good example. Can comfortably play at DEL level, comes here on Uni deal and struggled quite considerably.

Also worth noting that nothing the Steelers published officially confirmed Ostlund as the starter.

I think Ostlund will be our number one, but there's nothing to say the netminder named tomorrow isn't also on a Uni deal and therefore of very good pedigree.

My guess would be a relatively young and inexperienced netminder named tomorrow, but we shall soon see.

So the new netminder is Matt Greenfield.

https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/2 ... greenfield

I'm happy enough with this, he looks a number one in his own right.

A save percentage of 91.5% in the ECHL is more than acceptable and gives us good insurance if Ostlund struggles to find any form.

Potentially we have the best netminding duo in the league, which is a big positive for me going into the new season.

yeah I have to say it comes as a surprise this signing, a very good keeper by the looks of things, and like Doom says could easily be the number one keeper.. I have to add one comment though, what netminder could we have found if we add up the wages from Ostlund and Greenfield?
