Well we got something out of the last 30 minutes, scoring 3 goals but overall we again looked outclassed by the Germans!
I still can't understand why we keep dumping the puck? we play frightened and this means we give the puck away time after time!!
There are some of theses players that clearly are not ready for international Ice Hockey at this level ! Jenion had a real stinker tonight and Logan Neilson too! just can't defend his own zone! Tetlow??? how did he manage to get the MOM award????? he's not good enough for the EIHL never mind GB!!
I'm just so disappointed with our performances because I really thought we would do well against the weaker countries? 3/4 points I had us down for but overall we were easily the weakest team. I think the standard of Ice Hockey has increased somewhat and we just haven't progressed in the same vein.

Quite entitled to your opinion. But have you seen what they are up against? Teams that can call on players from the nhl at best, or play in a much higher league than the ours. The commentators on the iihf site kept making the point that if gb played to their systems, had a high compete level and didn't make silly plays then in most games they MIGHT stand a chance. At times they took silly penalties or made the wrong play and were punished. Sometimes you just have to say the opposition were much better. With players retiring from international play or just no longer up to the standard we may have to drop down a division, or two, and start again, when players like Steele, Jenion, Waller, Harewood will become the backbone of the team.

Game On

Results in this pool no big suprise to me,,,,,, we are never going to compete consistently at this level, we may pick up the odd shock result or see odd excellent performance,,,,,, if ice hockey was our main sport then thats different as financial backing and set up would be there all way through junior level up. Big thing as i see it is ,,,,, its good personal experience for the players and there is always chance certain players may be scouted and go on to higher leagues. so thats where i think the main benefit is, on a personal side as opposed to the overall success as uk. Thats just how it is

I agree with most of what you say. We did make a lot of silly plays, which cost us goals against. I’ve heard it said you need to play desperate at times but to me this doesn’t mean desperate to get rid of the puck regardless of where it goes. We gave it away far too easily and frequently there’s no wonder we were under constant pressure.

Teams didn’t take long to work that out and they were relentless. Even our top line was pounced on and not allowed to get any sort of momentum. You wouldn’t believe Kirk was a top scorer in DEL on that showing.
