For anyone watching this one……..have we continued with our physical play?
No!

To be fair Notts look quicker and sharper this game maybe a game too far for our lads after just a week, but the lines most certainly need tinkering with.

Just to add Sam Jones played outstanding tonight.

Well, that was very different from yesterday! Hard to believe it was the same two teams. If Fox has reigned them in I hope it is just to reduce the chance of injuries. Very tame compared to last night, although a more even game

A bad day at the office for Petgrave and Nevalainen, who were on the ice for all 4 Panthers goals.....hopefully just a blip.

A very solid start by Jones and Tansey as a pairing. Both +2 tonight following a very good effort on Saturday.

As long as we've come through it injury free then I'm not too concerned about the result.
What lines did Fox go with tonight? Was travelling down to London so didn't manage to catch the stream

I didn't see the game.

Completely understand in Pre-Season if the performance didn't match Saturday's and the players took it easy, no issues at all.

However, I really, really, really, really, really hope that Fox tells the players if we want to win trophies this season then the performance on Saturday needs to be at least that level EVERY SINGLE regular season game.

Had a look at the goals. Petgrave/Nevalainen in ice for all 4, but not helped by the forwards (not the same forward line on for all goals against).

Lots of people singling out Petgrave - no surprise as he's now the scapegoat. Ridiculous of course, considering there's 6 guys on the ice. There's 1 goal where a reasonable portion of blame goes on Petgrave, but it's not like he just threw a pizza up the middle straight to their guy in the slot.

Most goals against are due to a combination of good opposition play and a series of errors by usually more than 1 player. 2 of the goals there are 3 guys out of position (non of them called Petgrave either). Morrone should have had at least 1 of those 5 hole chances.

Every player makes mistakes, but let's face it, it's easy to blame the offensive D man, especially when they are very easily visually identifiable. Sarich and BOC used to get it, now Petgrave.

Petgrave does seem to be the new blame hound, because he likes to play adventurous.

My mate had a look through the gamesheets last season to see who was on the ice when we scored and conceded (including powerplays and penalty kills).

Petgrave and Schulze were on the ice for most goals conceded, a total of 43 for each, with David Phillips on for 39.

Now for the other side of the equation. Petgrave was on the ice for 90 of our goals, the next closest to him was Nevalainen with 71 followed by Neumann with 70.

For me the rewards last season for Petgrave's adventurous game play far outweighed the negatives.

It looks like our best defensive pairing had a bad night in Nottingham, it happens.
