Six point gap with a game in hand, it's not over yet.

Well, that was some comeback! I'd love to have been a fly on the wall in the 2nd period break, after one of the worst 20mins of Fox's tenure.
The "words of advice" and the line changes certainly worked.
We drove home asking, how the he'll did we win that one?!!
One we got on a roll, the Giants had no answer.

Game On

Well what a strange game ice hockey is at times, just never expected that after the first two periods. Giants looked in control and much stronger on the puck than us. Just got to keep chipping away now and see what happens, maybe a little doubt has now been set in giants mindset,,,, Great sat behind o keefe and seeing his reactions as game went on,,,

That 3rd period was some of the best hockey we have played this season, I have to admit I can't work the current team out because we were truly awful for the first 2 periods on the first powerplay we didn't even have a shot on goal.. That must have been one hell of a gaffa's talk in that 2nd period break!

Didn't watch the game, but was very impressed to see the result, especially when I checked and we were 2-0 down. I went to do my ironing

We do look like a one period team at the moment, which really isn't ideal if we still have serious aspirations to try and win either the League or Play-offs.

Sounds like the one excellent period worked well here and at Guildford, but fell foul against Cardiff in the CC Semi-Final.

Still...........keeps the title race interesting, even though I personally think that went a while ago. I would have loved to have seen Keefe's reaction on the bench after our comeback and 5 unanswered goals. That would have been worth the admission alone :D

Lets see if Fox and the team can prove me wrong.........not for the first time either :Smiled:

I wasn't too optimistic for a win before the game and even less so after two periods. At 0-2 the next goal was going to be crucial. If Giants scored the game was likely to be all but over but if we scored (however unlikely it seemed) it could give us the impetus to level the game. not only did we do that but went on, and on, and on. What a great win and puts some pressure on the Giants

I agree with Fox and Dowd interviews - 1st was fine, really tight defensive hockey from both teams, with Steelers probably edging it but Giants got the goal. 2nd was really flat, and to give away a soft goal was a nightmare.

3rd was just a different beast. Started winning board battles consistently. Created a period of pressure of about 4 mins that the only whistles were for icing against the Giants.

I still think Vallerand is not at the level he was previously but he can still cause issues and shoot. Heck of a shot to pull one back. He's just not quite able to be an absolute menace every game, but that doesn't mean you can let him get open and shoot.

Dowd - not much to say really. Excluding Kirky, I'd happily argue he's the best British player who's come through in the EIHL era. Hard to have the 'best ever' debate given Hand, Longstaff and Tait all came up during Heineken/ISL era, but Dowd probably is in that conversation.

Giants - Goodwin really is the difference maker, even only playing half a season for the last 2 years. It's no surprise they keep bringing him back. I don't massively rate their D but you have to be on them and force. They're skilled so can't let them have easy outs and time to carry the puck, but get on them quickly and they will turn the puck over. Mind you, I'd probably take any of their D over Guimond at the moment (so frustrating as at times you see little bits and realise why he was ECHL Dman of the year earlier in his career).

Just shows though how much the goalie injuries hurt our year. Let's face it, we probably take back 2 games had we had either of Greenfield or De Filippo fit, despite playing poorly, and we'd be looking likely to be level on points with Belfast. Top goals for per game and lowest goals against per game so it's really fine margins this year
