GAME THREAD: Giants v Steelers: LEAGUE: 6th April
Moderator: Mods
Hi All, Giants fan here. I’m not much of a contributor on any forums but, just on the Rob Dowd issue. I have no idea about what his injury is but he and three mates got out of a taxi at the SSE tonight as I was walking to the game. I noticed he recognised some bloke sitting on a bench on the walkway to the arena. He stopped and gave the bloke a hug (with both arms). If there is an arm issue I’m sure it’s minor and probably precautionary on the part of the team. He seemed in great form so I doubt it’s bad enough to be missing the play-offs.
Good season for you guys and great to see so many making the trip for two very good hockey games.
We’ll be back !

Disappointed not to get the 2 points and move up the all time points table.
I'm not really surprised we struggled when I saw the lines, it looked a real mish mash.
Hopefully those who were missing are out for a rest or precaution and they'll all be fighting fit for the playoffs.
I think Belfast are the biggest threat to us winning the GS, although my mates still think it's Cardiff.

AGREE,,, no big suprise tonight, alot of hockey has been played in not many days, so this ,the travelling, mix up of lines has to have an overall effect on result no big deal, odd loss might not be a bad thing at this stage, get it out of the way. Those left out i think are more precautionary niggling issues, dowd always seems to of had a niggling upper body issue going on. Belfast to me are the main threat in play offs but be on our game then all the pressure is on other team as we are the best on our day

So we finished with 91 points which puts us 3rd on the list.Doom wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 6:35 amMy mate prepared a graphic of the points achieved by all the title winning teams in the EIHL era adjusted to 54 games.
He's only taken it back to 08/09 so I did a quick check on Elite Prospects and based on that only one other team makes the top end of the list.
11/12 Belfast - 95 points (Christianson)
13/14 Belfast - 92 points (Adey)
08/09 Steelers - 89 points (Matsos)
03/04 Steelers - 89 points (Blaisdell)
12/13 Panthers - 88 points (Neilson)
21/22 Belfast - 88 points (Keefe)
10/11 Steelers - 87 points (Simon)
The next one is a jump down to 84 points (Cardiff), but I'm not typing them all out.
What could be argued to be the all time greats seems to be dominated by Sheffield and Belfast teams, although consideration needs to be given to other competitions as well.
The current Steelers team sits in 3rd place, but could still make 2nd on the list.

We also won 11 out of 11 in the Challenge Cup and 4 out of 4 in the playoffs.
Taking all competitions into account, I would suggest this makes this year's Steelers team the most successful in EIHL history in terms of win percentage.
