My observations on our Net minding Situation:

I cant see McAdam having has many games once the league games start and we need to be winning games early, especially games where we are not at our best. For me he has already let some soft goals get past him and he seems to let out a rebound virtually every shot on net.. (I know this isn't necessarily true statistically) Watching his style he doesn't keep hold any where near as many incoming shots at Greener seems to.

Matt Greenfield gives you a chance to win those games every night and keeps you in it till Fox can coach out the mistakes.. Unfortunately McAdam seems to have it in him most nights to let 3 or more past him... A dam good goalie for sure, but Greener is not going to allow that to happen on many nights and while this team still hasn't found its mojo.
I cant see Foxy trusting McAdam between the pipes game in Game out... :hey:
So, I'll play Devil's advocate here - which goals has McAdam given up that are soft? I'm struggling to remember one, and to be honest think he's been very good - he made 2 game saving saves last night.

Yes he's more of a rebound goalie, but D have been pretty good with dealing with that. Don't get me wrong, Greenfield is still the go to, but McAdam has got 5/6 points in the games he's played.

Sorry, I cant name specific goals, I just can't, and I am not saying he is not a good goalie. In fact, I said the opposite, didn't I? But I do think that the games I've watch and the highlights I've seen he would want a couple back, it's not really in dispute that Greenfield is our number one goalie either, but I will stand corrected if they do continue to share the league games equally... to clarify, I do believe that McAdam is the best import backup goalie we have had in many seasons... the only others that stand out for the right reasons in past seasons are Big Mike Torchia, Pasi Raitanen and of course Jamie Hibbert. Those 3 have to be right up there as brilliant backup keepers...

It's still early days and only very small samples, but I did just have a quick look at a few of our stats on the EIHL website:

Face-offs 51.47% - Not great, but acceptable
Powerplay 15.00% - Very poor
Penalty kill 92.31% - Outstanding

As for individual players, the one that caught my eye was Gentile. He's our top points scorer with 7 from 6 games, but also joint bottom of our +/- with -2, which suggests he's on the ice for a lot of the goals we've conceded.

I did worry about Jasper on the +/-, but he's currently top with +6.

Pu and Dougherty also -2.

McAdam is just under 91% on saves, which isn't great, but not a disaster. I am hoping he'll get nearer 92% with more games.

Greener is at 94.44%, which is outstanding. McAdam isn't going to match Greener, but maybe the breaks Greener will get are going to mean he performs even better.

No doubt a clearer picture will emerge in the next month or so.

Regards

I don't think they'll get full split, no, but I don't think there's a worry if Greenfield needs a night off. We probably need 25-30 games from Mac to give Greenfield a better workload to keep him fresh to the end of the year.

And as much as I love Pasi and Hibbert, they were nowhere near the same level as Torch as a backup (or Mac when you adjust for the changes in the game)
