From what I've read on here quite a few will be relieved. I tend to agree. It was clear to see he had been a top nettie but at his age and time off it was a lot to ask him to return to his best form. The bloke had character though and I wish him well.Spoony wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 11:50 amWhat do people think of this news about Brust not returning, https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/ice-hoc ... st-3789606

Common sense has prevailed at last... The trouble is everything now relies on who we announce now, if the new keepers are bang average we are in for another average season!!steeler pete wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 2:28 pmFrom what I've read on here quite a few will be relieved. I think he could be good if it's him. Great stats in Norway and DEL. Obviously not great in ICEHL with the Hungarian (?) Team last season, but didn't play loads of games so hard to know what happened there.

I just have the feeling our netminder announcement is going to be a name none of us have considered...
Why else leave it till the end to tell everyone if its Ostlund, yes he is a good keeper, but by no means a stud goalie... well not from what i've researched anyway...

Didn’t this rumour (Ostlund) start when Steelers Twitter (June 17) mentioned Fox had made a signing & they would wear number 55?
Everyone went on Elite Prospects looking for a no 55.
Jay - you have Jordan McLaughlin down as 55 but official site shows 72
Was this the no 55?
Seems a long time to withhold signing news.

Yes I think you are right Tim is was never an actual rumour regarding Ostlund that I can remember, However he used to wear #88 at the Capitals, Solway Sharks and the Clan..DimTim wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 9:24 pmDidn’t this rumour (Ostlund) start when Steelers Twitter (June 17) mentioned Fox had made a signing & they would wear number 55?

I am sure it was said somewhere that he would be wearing number 55 because at the time Valley had not been announced as leaving yet so couldn't have his number obviously.. Now it entirely possible I imagined this lol but I dont think so, but that also brings up the question why he doesn't have the #88 number now.. So its a little confusing, but thats my defence!!

I once asked what percentage of the budget we should spend on a netminder to a very very good Steelers coach and his assistant from our past (some of you will know) He said think of your percentage Jay then I will double it and if I can, I will find some more!!lovedenisvial wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 1:10 pmNew NM just needs to the best we can get for the money!
