He had good numbers in Norway and the few games he played in the DEL but he’s also only ever posted 1 shutout his whole Senior career, his full season in the ICEHL he was 13th best tender and last season played 3 games. It’s a big risk signing this goalie imo to me he seems inconsistent. For comparison Kantor finished 14th best goalie in the ICEHL for last season.Joesteeler wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 2:12 pmOstlund would be great IMO - he's put up decent numbers in leagues far better than ours, and he's only 30.wakefieldsteelersfan wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 2:09 pmI hope it's not Ostlund, why would we go for a goalie who played 3 games all last season? We tried that trick with Brust and didn't exactly work out.
I suspect he would be using us a springboard to get back into the top leagues - I've no objection to that

Nailed on for Ostlund them rumours accounts have been very accurate this year.

So how good is Ostlund? serious question, is he in the stud goalie category?House_of_Steel wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 1:02 pmIt’s going to be Ostlund. Aaron will see how he gets on in the preseason games and if he’s poor sign a last minute additional like he has done the previous seasons he did exactly the same with Kantor/Duba And Brust/Rok.

I don’t think so Jay screams inconsistent I’d sooner take a tender posting great numbers In a better or comparable league the season before and I don’t like his shutout stats.Jayboy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 2:38 pmHouse_of_Steel wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 12:51 pmI’d of taken this lad definitely!teeLIST wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 10:16 amNetminder announcement Friday morning.

I’d take gracnar he would be the stud we require multiple seasons at Ebel level above 92% and a very good last season in DEL2 above 92%
I think there needs to be a bit of realism when it comes to making signings.
We're very unlikely to get a netminder from the DEL who has just posted good numbers in that league, because his DEL team will have a much bigger budget than us and will be able to offer him a better deal.
As a club we're tied to a wage agreement and will have to shop at Aldi rather than Waitrose and hope that we can perhaps pick up a bargain somewhere. If it is Ostlund the reason we may have been able to afford him is probably because he didn't play much last season.
When Edinburgh signed Besko they did so after he'd missed a full season. They wouldn't have been able to afford him after a good year in a better league.
I'm a bit on the fence with Ostlund, he definitely looks a bit of a risk, but his pedigree is certainly as good if not better than any of the other netminders in the league.
I'd love it if we announced a superstar coming off a very good season in a decent league, but I just don't think we could afford that.

I agree entirely Doom. We have a good but maybe a tad expensive Brit Bunch and that leaves a bit less in the available budget for imports. That means we can afford , “ Maybe “ players who could be great ,
( Latal )or the doubts hanging over them prove too true ( add your own example ! ) .
We will be competitive but not miles in front of anyone, a lot depends on the above paragraph and how many injuries we get. Oh, and a few Scottish refs !

So it is Oskar on a 2 year deal.
I can't say his stats the last two seasons are particularly impressive, but prior to that they are good.
He doesn't look like a 92% netminder to me, but I can see him being over 91% which gives us a chance because I don't see any of the netminders in the league being over 92%.
We've also got a 2nd netminder deal agreed, but the paperwork still needs sorting and then the name will be released next week.
With Oskar being on a UoS course and signing for 2 seasons I guess we got him a bit cheaper, so hopefully the money freed up means the 2nd netminder is also of good quality (he's apparently younger).
I'm very neutral with this signing, but let's see what the guy can do.
