For those that can, I'd definitely suggest using park and ride with the tram. Much cheaper!
Tried this before and there weren’t frequent enough trams.
Maybe helped by the fact I don't usually stick around for MoM etc so tend to manage to get on the first tram that comes.
That's what I do now. Use the Nunnery Square park and ride and get home reasonably quickly. Used to park off site but had my car broken into twice, then used to tram all way home bit took forever with infrequent trams that time of night and having to change in town.
I tend to dash off as soon as game is over as tends to coincide with a tram arrival
If you decide to avoid using the car park or cut back on spending money then please consider sending a politely worded email to the Arena management explaining why so they get feedback on the results of their decisions. It might help them reconsider.
Well having a tribe of kids/ babies/prams/car seats etc with us on most game nights really isnt a brilliant way of leaving a game early to then bundle us all on a tram to park and ride, so the car is a must for us, so the arena really do have me by the short and curly's

Sure, realise that the options don't work the same for everyone. I dont like rushing off at the end of the game but it's what generally works best for me these days.
I also used the tram previously because have a monthly ticket for work, so was no extra cost. However the time to get home was taking too long for using the tram alone.
I'd turned away from the option of paying at the arena with previous price let alone the latest price hike!
