Good news that premier sports have got really interested in our sport. I watch all three of their networks quite extensively because they relay the US broadcasters of the NHL. At their price this is really a good deal. All the more of a pity then that premier sports seem to have no understanding of how to broadcast ice hockey. Their performance on Sunday was lamentable. The main camera view over the red line was just so wide angle that it looked as if they were out in the car park somewhere. It was impossible to read players numbers taking away a really interesting part of our game. They hardly ever used closer focus as the US networks would regularly do for NHL at faceoffs, when a side is camped down in the attacking zone etc. There were very few replays during the action though closer camera views of these came out after the game.
Most ridiculous was the total absence of a clock so we had no period elapsed time and no time elapsed of Powerplays. We did not even have the score on the screen. How is it possible for a producer to be so ignorant of what they are broadcasting?
I would add that the whole experience was made even worse by the ludicrous amount of high contrast advertising on the Sheffield ice. Following the puck was this doubly difficult on Sunday.
The league needs to use its muscle here to get things to improve and quickly. I shall watch the Blaze game in anticipation. They could actually something from the Steelers broadcasts!

Sounds awful and I thought the Manchester Storm.tv offering was bad...

Thing is, the on-ice sponsors provide a revenue stream into the Club. Where else would you put their advertising I ask you. There's no such thing as too many sponsors, sporting clubs rely on them and I can testify for that having run an amateur football side on Sundays for many a year.

Can someone who watched it live say whether the "On-Demand" version is any different. I've only watched the on-demand version and I didn't find watching it all that bad as some are saying... Obviously the lack of clock/scores is a major thing they will need to fix for the next game.

Yes, there are a lot of sponsors on the ice, but I've never found it stopped me from following the puck. (I'd rather the sponsors than all of the mist that showed up in the Storm game!)

Good to see the better approach to the ice in Nottingham. Significantly less graphics and all done with less contrast. Much easier to watch than ours.
