Olimp Riga made it here through the qualifying round where they beat HK Tartu-Välk 494 of the Estonian Meistriliiga & Sokol Kiev of the Ukrainian Hockey League to progress.

They were beaten 3-1 by HK Gomel in their round opener after being outshot 32-19.

Amongst their alumni is former Steelers netminder Ervins Mustukovs, a favourite of mine.

They’ll provide a different test to Aalborg. They’ll be less dynamic in transition instead focusing on good puck possession and fast passing combinations.

They have a former Basingstoke Bison forward in their lineup in Edijs Brahmanis. He played in the EIHLs 05/06 season. That roster had the likes of Jason Hewitt, Danny Meyers, Doug Sheppard & Shawn Maltby in it, familiar names for Sheffield fans.

A win for us here would put us in a strong position.

If my maths is correct a regulation win and Aalborg fail to win in regulation would be enough for us to advance to the final.

I’d start Brust again with a view of letting Rok play the final game. Guys who might be 50/50 probably need to play this one if we have ambitions of reaching the final.

I don't want to dump all over last nights performance, I'm not, but I fear the physical toll taken might hamper our chances in this one.

Saying that you never know.

Adversity and all that...

1-0 Steelers.

Armstrong winner in garbage time will do nicely.

Presumably what is the original feed can be found here albeit without commentary: https://player.vimeo.com/video/647666199
I'm presuming the Steelers streams are just a screen capture of this feed which is why the quality during the periods looks so compressed and jerky.
