I'm going to be honest, I'm no veteran. I went to some games when I was younger (I'm 17 now) but I have no memory because I didn't particularly have a real interest in hockey. We stopped going for 4 years mum tells me and just came back in February. I got covid soon after, not from the game, but I was still hooked and I started checking out the NHL too. Steelers are genuinely my life right now though, is that OK with people?
Is it bedtime yet

Of course it is, it's a major part of most our lives, certainly a good proportion of our members on this forum..Spoony wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 5:20 pmI'm going to be honest, I'm no veteran. I've been into Ice Hockey since my late teens. Cliche, but mainly down to the Mighty Ducks films. I moved to Yorkshire in 04 and watched 1 Steelers game with my Dad. Time passed and my daughter, 14, loves ice skating and got into Ice Hockey after watching The Mughty Ducks films with me. We decided to go and watch the Steelers in October and we've become hooked. We've been to six games since and have plans for many more. I now own a Petgrave replica shirt and my daughter has the old away shirt from 05/06.

Our child minder, who was a Steelers supporter from day 1, bought us a family ticket a a Christmas present. It was against the Panthers when there was real rivalry. Our youngest son was 7 years old. He is now 33 and we are still going. We take that lovely child minder to every home game.

I used to love ice skating at the Silver Blades on Queens Rd and I used to watch ice hockey on Grandstand and winter Olympics. We moved to live in Worksop in the mid eighties so I didn't hear about the Steelers until part way through the 1993 season.
I worked a lot of weekends and wasn't able to get to football on Saturday afternoons, so when I heard about the Steelers I thought I could take the wife and kids on a Sat night and give it a try.
That was it, no more football for me. Steelers all the way.

I went with my mother in the first season in early September, to see Durham Wasps in the BH cup on a friday night! the game went to OT and the PS! it was great!! My mum had watched the Wembley Lions as a child so she encouraged me to go! been every season since apart from one season when it was owned by the Chesterfield FC Director.
