Eurovision 2023

The Utilta Arena Sheffield has been shortlisted to the 7 remaining venues to host Eurovision 2023.
The successful venue would need 6-8 weeks preparation for the event in May, meaning any events scheduled in that time would be cancelled/moved.
Can’t see Sheffield winning it, but may affect our ice if it did.

Can't see Sheffield winning it to be honest.
Todd Kelman said in a fan forum in Nottingham that there's there's no where to stay or eat near the Sheffield Arena which is why we can't host the playoffs you see.

Was about to post something along these lines.
To be even considered, Sheffield must have the infrastructure to host an international event of this size with 10s of millions watching across the world.
It is such a shame that we can’t put the effort in to increase those facilities to be considered to host a national event for what is a minority sport in this country. Come on Sheffield get your act together, surely we can provide pop up eating carts in the car park to supplement the miserly venues across at Centretainment and the numerous local pubs that offer food.

Some stupid bloke on BBC news said we've got great transport routes and a great venue SHEFIELD ARENA. Made me cross because I wouldn't be able to see like a game or two. Man's CLEARLY a Steelers hater

The Times yesterday had an editorial saying it should be Sheffield. The three reasons were: it's not London, the Utilita is the right size and Sheffield has been twinned with Donetsk since 1956. Not sure that's enough...

Earlier on HallamFM they continued to insist on putting it in Utilita. I'm starting to realise maybe we may have to miss a season game and possible playoff games. So I was thinking about who could host with Graham Norton who will most certainly host next year and I thought seeing how it's Utilita David Simms sort of deserves to, plus I think it might be rather funny.

For food, there's the Centertainment obviously and Meadowhall just up the tram road. Premier Inn and Ibis Budget just across the road from the Arena as well as the Travel Lodge at Meadowhall. Don Valley Hotel at Attercliffe and plenty in the City Centre.
Has Kelman had his blinkers on, or is it that he has something against Sheffield Arena? Makes you wonder.

Sheffield will NOT be hosting Eurovision. The bid is now between Glasgow and Liverpool. I'm sure Glasgow can miss a game or two
