Steelers have confirmed the return of netminder, Matt Greenfield on a new one year deal in Sheffield.

I had options” said Greenfield “But after this incredible experience in Sheffield and how well I was treated by the club and the fans it wasn’t that tough of a decision to return. I spoke with Aaron and the deal didn’t take too long to work out.

I didn’t know what to expect when I first signed and arrived here but from moment one I have loved it and feel privileged to have had this opportunity and to play in this great building in front of our crazy fans. From ownership down I have been treated well by everyone at the club and I have an excellent working relationship with the coaching staff.

Whilst I’m already back home in Calgary, I’m focussed on next season and I’m looking forward to returning to Sheffield in the late summer and working hard to bring success to the organisation

What a fantastic re-signing. I also didn't think we'd see him again in orange.

I'm sure he could easily have gone somewhere else, but am delighted he's decided to stay for next season.

Whilst I'm critical of our ownership when it comes to the on ice success, I would be the first person to say that off the ice we must be one of, if not the best run club and I think that shows when we can re-sign players like Greenfield.

Credit to the Management and coaching staff for getting this signing done and announcing it quickly.

This I like to see.

Over the moon with this signing, very surprised he’s back, just goes to show if you’re happy somewhere it speaks volumes on just a pay packet. Glad to have you back Matt and taking on Jays philosophy of starting at the back I’d say we’ve made a pretty good start.
