Manchester may have given themselves a chance of the playoffs but they done the league a favour setting up the final weekend.
Belfast and Keefe must be very disappointed by that result. I bet he’s fuming.
We’ve got 2 tough games coming up but shouldn’t need any motivation.

Belfast have now lost three in a row, I know two of them were overtime games but even so just like winning, losing is a habit. They have gone from cruising to the title to knowing failure to win their remaining games will see the title go elsewhere, they are on the verge of a massive bottle job. We have nothing to lose, a second place after winning the grand slam the season before plus the additional demands of the CHL should not be judged as a failure but a reflection of a solid season.

Only if you don't count their last 2 games before tonight against Fife! I know no one expected those results to go any differently though.
Definitely makes for an exciting final weekend

I've just looked at his numbers and they are outstanding.....I'm sure we could do a lot worse.mark wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 7:26 pmAnd a contract...Doom wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 6:45 pmI really didn't see that result coming, even though Manchester are desperate.
It looks like Belfast had a similar night to our home game against Coventry, when plenty of chances are created, but nothing will go in.
I'd say it's now 50/50 between us and Belfast, with Nottingham outsiders
Two tough games for us, but Belfast with the slightly tougher fixtures.
If we do win it, Tony Smith should be sending D'Aoust a bottle of champagne.

My guess is he ends up at Belfast though. Keefe has a history of signing top scorers from the lower budget teams in our league. Fox doesn't really go down that route.

Here are the tie breaking rules: Basically after points, its regulation wins, total wins and then head to head between relevant teams. as it stands, we have more regulation wins, so if it's tied on points, we'd take the first tie breaker.
In the event of teams being equal on points at the end of a season, the following criteria will decide the final league ranking;
i. Total number of points.
ii. Total number of games won in regulation time.
iii. Total number of all games won (regulation, overtime and penalties).
iv. The results of games played between the relevant teams by applying points won, games won in regulation time, all games won (regulation time/overtime/penalties), in that order of priority.
v. Fewest regulation losses.
vi. Using away games: – points won, games won in regulation time, all games won (regulation time/overtime/penalties), in that order of priority.
vii. Goals scored.
viii. Goal Difference
ix. Fewest Penalty Minutes (Fair Play)
x. In the unlikely event of teams still being equal, teams will be ranked by the drawing of lots. Any prize monies determined by the position in a league or group by this means will be shared equally by the tying teams.
xi. Where a group of two or more teams is tied, then whenever a team can be eliminated due to the above order of priority, it shall be, by applying each of the above stages in order of such priority.

I suspect Belfast will be in for him, but I do hope we're taking a look. His work rate and forechecking was top drawer last night, as well as an obvious snipers instinct. Potentially a Vallerand replacement (although I do hate that as he's made me eat a bit of humble pie recently, and he's been a great part of the Fox era).Doom wrote: ↑Mon Mar 31, 2025 8:20 amI've just looked at his numbers and they are outstanding.....I'm sure we could do a lot worse.mark wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 7:26 pmAnd a contract...Doom wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 6:45 pmI really didn't see that result coming, even though Manchester are desperate.

I really like Spencer Naas at Dundee too. Again, think he has the work rate that Fox likes, and he's a very good two way forward who also can score.
Also watching Manchester last night, I really wish the Joe Morrow to us rumour had come off. He was head and shoulders the best D on the ice, showing exactly why he played in the NHL.

What has impressed me is his ability to play on the big ice as well as the Manchester mini-rink, high skill and work rate levels and he plays smart, in a team that can get a bit goon happy he keeps his head.ginger wrote: ↑Mon Mar 31, 2025 10:08 am
