I thought we just about deserved that.
For me Cardiff edged the first, we edged the second and were comfortably better in the 3rd.
With this going down to the last day, I'm sure there will be interest from outside the usual hockey circles, so I'd like to think both Coventry and Nottingham will go 100% for the integrity of the league.
I'm going to wait until the squads are announced before committing to the webcast. If Grande isn't in for Nottingham, I'm not going to waste my money on the Coventry webcast.
Regards
Doom

although of course we enjoyed last season, I have to say this is much better for the league going into the final weekend with 3 contenders and the final night with 2.
If as looks likely we lose the league to Giants, in my view we have lost it in our pp. It just has not been been championship class, far from it. Foxy please note.

After what I've just seen on FB & if true, then I am truly disgusted at the Belfast Giant "Fan"Rendo wrote: ↑Sat Apr 05, 2025 9:37 pmWe certainly won't get any help from PanthersBontSteeler wrote: ↑Sat Apr 05, 2025 9:35 pmI like the way folk think that Panthers are going to lay down and let Giants win on their ice.
Telling you now, this isn't over.
That kind of comment will really anger the Panthers, not to mention the EIHL on a whole.

People are suggesting Nottingham will not play to win by some ways and means tomorrow. Hard to prove but playing a backup that hasn’t had regular games is a bit too obvious isn’t it?
We have to have some integrity in the league or there’s really no point in playing at all. Not making the effort to play to win could be tantamount to match fixing.
Having said that I think Belfast are still favourites but I’ll still keep my fingers crossed.

apparently a Belfast fan was heard shouting "cut your throat' it's on Chasing the puck FB page.
Personally I've had the volume on and can't hear anything.
For the Mods - take my post down if you're not happy with it, I'm just relaying what folk are saying....

I have to say though Greeny, considering how Champions League exploits & injuries, these guys have really stood up this year, especially considering the amount of games we've played.
Now just imagine if we'd been able to have a decent No2 behind Greenfield this season, then I firmly believe we would've popped Belfast to the title.....
See what tomorrow night brings but at least we're still in with a shout.....
Come on Steelers!

Slightly harsh on De Filippo - he got injured, and then it's taken a long time to get back. He's hardly had any hockey so a bit unfair to judge.BontSteeler wrote: ↑Sun Apr 06, 2025 12:24 amI have to say though Greeny, considering how Champions League exploits & injuries, these guys have really stood up this year, especially considering the amount of games we've played.

That's just bad luck and given his career to date he'd probably have been solid enough, whilst being unspectacular.
The Berlin game away when we effectively lost both netminders, and about 3 other guys to injury. Slump followed. Had we not had injuries to both netminders we probably pick up at least an extra point in that slump. It's really fine margins, and we've just lacked a little bit of luck this year, because there's not much to pick between the top 2/3, and Cardiff had they not had so many injuries could also have been in a better position.
I said before the season that years like last year happen very rarely - apart from the obvious, nothing really went against us all year, with very few injuries and everything seemed to fall perfect.
Ultimately we did what we needed to last night, that's all that matters. Same again today

Oh yes agree, to win league certainly does need other scenarios to fall into place and a big one of those is to stay injury free and this season we have not been as fortunate on that front as last season. Also when the tile race is so close it shows how every game in this league is important, an odd point dropped here or there early in the season can have a big affect on end of season positions. Even scheduling of games can go in or against your favour,,,many scenarios which when all fall into place means its your time to take that title. Think belfast will win comfortably today but like you say see what happens , you never know [ can be a funny old game at times ]BontSteeler wrote: ↑Sun Apr 06, 2025 12:24 amI have to say though Greeny, considering how Champions League exploits & injuries, these guys have really stood up this year, especially considering the amount of games we've played.
