Mitchell looks like a decent 3rd line winger, offers nice size which we very rarely offer in forward positions. And you don’t get AHL call-ups for nothing.
Would be a surprise as I don’t believe we’ve recruited anyone under Fox directly from North America without European experience on the big ice, it’s a different game.
Also worth noting Piccinich scored a paltry 29 points in the ECHL the season before dominating the EIHL. A lot depends on how a player is deployed on bigger ice, and their roles which can’t always be deduced from EliteProspects.
His PPG is better than Eberle's in the ECHL, but as proven above with Piccinich can be a whole different story once they arrive here. He could explode, but I think we might see something similar to Eberle's first season just with a bit more puck luck and finishing hopefully (if he is signing obviously)
If he plays in the same mould as Eberle then I'd be more than happy, we need energy players as well as top points scorers, if he can put up some decent numbers too then bonus!
If we can do away with trying to achieve 3-4 lines of similarly styled lines which has been Fox's style previously, would like to see a skilled, fast top 2 lines, a bigger crash and bang third line, and a checking defensive shut down fourth line.
Getting the age down, upping the physicality and having tactics/plan options is a must for me to give us a better chance of being in the mix for the league title at end of the year. Within that need a few goal scorers, face off experts and a stud nettie.

Piccinich was well over a point a game at OHL level before he joined Belfast.
won 2 NCAA titles 1 ECHL title 1 OHL titles and an MCUP. They always seem to be able to attract quality players straight out of North America, his ECHL numbers weren’t great but you can see from his resume the potential was there, he won’t of been cheap either.

Not much to ask for is it?

I could not agree more with this Paul. It would also offer Fox, more option for a plan B.
I've read on Twitter that Barry & Ellerby are back for next season.....
Thanks lads for last season but please no.
I have to say if this is true I worry for our team again, it's not a secret amongst fans that defense was a shambles at times last year and we have already signed back 3 of them..
Ok Barry showed a few signs of genius from a past career and awesome CV but lets face it, he came in overweight and a mere shadow of the past keeper he had been... A few out of this world saves and a check on a player behind the net is not enough to convince me I would have him as our starting netminder!! he would have to come back in the best shape of his career for me to even consider him a good signing!! I think a fit Barry Brust from say 4/5 seasons ago would be our stud goalie but not a post covid, post +pounds version..
