Exactly, at present the only newbie on the D core is someone who is a small, attack minded defence man. Baring in mind last year our D was function-able at best, and dire in the key games then it’s a worry if we are resigning 5 of the previous 6 and also Todd would be pairing up with either a Brit or another attack minded D-man which also creates an imbalance debate. Time will tell

Heard this Joel Broda coming to us, not the first time I’ve heard it either rumours earlier in the off season.

As someone mentioned on another thread about Brandon McNally being linked and this being played down, although not in the Munn, Fitzy, King mould for a second he would defend players and help give us abit more of an edge and ultimately and for me ideally not losing one of our better players for penalties as with the aforementioned names. So although not ideal if names linked signed ie mcnally, broda above and Danmat who has also been linked it would certainly be our most “gritty” collection of forwards we have had under fox by a long chalk

The question about McNally would be.
If so good and worthwhile, why not retained by the Devils? They rarely fail to keep players who remain in the UK if they want to keep them rather than lose them to one of their close rivals. If he joins us, was it a performance/attitude decision or did we outbid them? If it was outbidding them I'm not sure it would be good use of the budget.
Either way I'm really not keen from what I saw from him last year.
Will wait and see if he is signed.

I hope we’re not looking to add physicality for physicality’s sake.
Players who are good enough to operate at the top end of this division, that have size and are physical are very hard to come by.
There’s probably only Mark Louis currently signed who I’d say fits that profile.
Of course, Scott Allen is an interesting proposition for us.
And I don’t think Cody Sol most recently of Glasgow was far off being that.

Would be happy with this, nearly a point per game in the ECHL, decent AHL experience and good points in EBEL (or ICEHL), physical game with a good shot according to EP.House_of_Steel wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 7:28 pmHeard this Joel Broda coming to us, not the first time I’ve heard it either rumours earlier in the off season.

Definitely seems like we are going for strength in depth rather than a loaded top line approach.
I'm becoming a right grumpy chops in my old age, but I'm not convinced by Broda.
Three seasons ago great, but his numbers over the last two seasons are disappointing, including his +/-.
Now I've posted this he's guaranteed to sign.
