Another good signing, sounds like he can play all situations and doesn't mind a physical game, has also put up good numbers.
I like our D group to be honest, we look very mobile and have increased the physical presence, as he's stated all along Fox won't sign someone who's 6'6" for the sake of it to have someone huge back there so there shouldn't be any surprise with what we have put together. Looking forward to seeing them on the ice and who pairs up with who.
My initial guess would be:
Petgrave-Piche
Nevalainen-Jones
Schulze-Davey

Does sound like a good signing and he spoke well during his interview with Peter Spencer.JoeySlats#13 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 9:06 amAnother good signing, sounds like he can play all situations and doesn't mind a physical game, has also put up good numbers.

I'm afraid I will be taking the doesn't mind a physical game with a pinch of salt as that was what we was sold when Ellerby was signed.
Whilst we do look a more physical side this year, I don't believe it's high on Fox's priorities.
The proof will be in the pudding of course, but while we look to have a mobile offensive defence, I'm yet to be convinced that we have anyone who can regularly clear the crease.

One of my major disappointments last year was the overall poor season the defence had mainly from my point of view because of the attitude to good old fashioned stay at home defending, its all well and good having a very offensive set of defenders but they constantly got caught out going the wrong way! if the balance of the defence is stacked in favour of speed and offensive prowess, then once teams work that out you get many many more odd man rush scenarios where you basically chuck your netminder under the bus struggling to defend 2 or 3 on 1..

Like this signing, and generally the D looks good on paper.
In terms of physical play, it's not surprising that more and more rounded D and forwards are being signed league wide. Look at the NHL - it's less physical than it was, and the game at the highest level is continuing along that trend. It makes absolute sense that the fallout further down the pecking order are more players in that mould.
Look at Colorado - their top 6 are all D who move the puck well. Non are what you would think of as a stay at home monster. If the Stanley Cup champs are built like that it makes sense that will be the way the game goes.
Add to the bigger rinks over here, and again, you generally get the guys who can skate well.
Gagnon is going to get shown up on big ice (always did). Louis is the only one who seems to have stuck and worked out how to adapt to big ice.
