As predicted an easy win.
If we play with this intensity very few teams especially short-benched like Manchester were, can live with us and we will win 99% of our games.
Really thought we could have given Laing the 3rd period and I was disappointed once again of the lack of protection for Greenfield from our players. So much so Greenfield had to put his cigar down to have a word with the referee while the likes of Shudra and Diffley watched on. Sorry, it really grinds my gears.
Other than that a fantastic Christmas period where we sit nice and pretty at the top of the league. Well done lads.

The first 10 minutes was quite even, but once we flipped the switch and upped the speed and intensity they couldn't live with us.
I did mention about no puck luck, good goal tending and poor finishing possibly costing us and that was true in the 3rd, but at 7 - 1 up it didn't matter.
With Cardiff blowing it tonight we now have a massive insurance policy. No guarantees, but it is ours to lose now.
Cormier continues to impress.....what a superb pick up by Fox.

Perhaps an unfair comparison, but he reminds me a little of Shayne Mccosh in how effortlessly he turns defence into attack.
When we signed Cormier and I looked at his stats I assumed he was just another body to fill in for the loss of Petgrave. I wouldn't have guessed he'd slip so seamlessly into the offensive defenceman role that Petgrave played for us.
He's currently our top points scoring defenceman having played quite a few less games than the others.....not a bad effort.

Cormie is indeed different gravy, what a signing. Jayboy if you watch any of the NHL games you will see countless players swanning around the ice chewing on their gum shields, not sure how true it is but a lot credit Patric Kane with starting the trend. Beats me why you would go to the trouble of using one if you spend most of the time chewing it!!!
We actually said last night that he reminded us of Sandrock who was excellent for Belfast a few seasons ago. McCosh would also be a fair comparison. I personally feel he’s a better play than Petgrave as he’s more responsible defensively and makes less mistakes.Doom wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 9:10 amPerhaps an unfair comparison, but he reminds me a little of Shayne Mccosh in how effortlessly he turns defence into attack.

Had a look at our stats earlier and struggling to figure out which is the more impressive....conceding 34 in 21 games (20 less than Cardiff) or scoring 88 in 21 (4 more than Cardiff).
We're averaging 4.1 goals per game so far, conceding at a rate of 1.6 per game. Just shows how dominant at both ends of the ice we've been so far.

The GA is the more impressive, no value in scoring them if you are conceding in your own net. Scorers win matches, defenders win championships.wakefieldsteelersfan wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 11:33 amHad a look at our stats earlier and struggling to figure out which is the more impressive....conceding 34 in 21 games (20 less than Cardiff) or scoring 88 in 21 (4 more than Cardiff).
