Breaking News: Nick Seitz Joins the Flames - Confirmed
GAME THREAD: Sheffield Steelers v Glasgow Clan Saturday, 6th January 7:00pm

One last big effort and then the guys can have a well earned break.
One of our main rivals will be dropping points tomorrow in what is now known as the Low Budget Derby (aka El Skintio)
A great effort by all at the club to fill the building. Post Christmas is usually a fairly quiet period with people being spent up, so it's a very sensible pricing policy. Much better to fill the building at £8 than have 4,000 paying full price.

Would have thought with our massive budget, we’ll have brought Concorde out of retirement to fly back 1st class from Glasgow
Don’t usually bother with Glasgow games, but I’ll be watching the stream for this one. Great that it’s a sell out too, amazing effort once again.

I remember saying a year or two ago that getting a sell out for a non boxing day game would be an important milestone because that is when the snowball starts rolling, people see they could have missed out on tickets for today so they buy earlier for next home game which then creates the momentum for demand to increase, and all of a sudden it's the hottest ticket in town. It is a tribute to the work that has been put in over the years and the success so far of this years team has pushed it that final few yards. It has been a bloody long slog from the dark days of the Norton Lea era but I hope we have learned a few lessons, the biggest of which is you never stop pushing, we took our foot off the gas last time and assumed the 9000+ attendances were a given, how wrong we were. If we haven't learned from that we have learned nothing at all, that was close to being the end of this club and we must never go there again.Doom wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2024 9:23 amOne last big effort and then the guys can have a well earned break.

One last effort on the ice tonight, then I'd say come back on Wednesday for a light session, go and have a few days off with friends and family to recover. Because however hard it was to get here it will be harder from now on, teams will be visiting with the intention of not losing heavily making it difficult to break them down and of course we now have a big target on our back. But of course this is why Championships have to be earned with hard work and the unique setup of the EIHL basically becomes one long playoff series with the first game as important as the last one.

A word about our opponents. I was really pleased to see a sell out in Glasgow last night. I think that is 4000 for ice hockey (5200 when rink is boarded over). This is slightly larger than Cardiff. Also, judging by yesterday’s game, they seem to have a decent team. This is all good news for our league. Clan seem to have developed considerably in recent years. It is good to have another sustainable competitive team in the league. Come on Edinburgh, surely you can do as well!

Extremely difficult test. There will be plenty of fatigue.
Glasgow whilst not having quite the same skill level, are really well drilled and organised and can grind well, plenty of size and physicality also.
