It does feel like all areas of our game have picked up in the last 3 weeks, but looking at our overall season stats we have been poor on special teams.

Combining powerplay and penalty kill percentages, a top team really should be aiming for over 100.

Totals so far are:

Cardiff 108.26
Coventry 106.47
Nottingham 102.88
Dundee 102.53
Belfast 101.73
Guildford 101.46
Glasgow 101.23
Sheffield 99.27
Fife 89.40
Manchester 84.17

To put it into some context, we finished last season with 115.04, which was quite incredible (the dominant Belfast team the season before were at 108.84).

I think Manchester need to stay 5 on 5, because those numbers are brutal.

In terms of where we stand on powerplay and penalty kill, we're currently:

Powerplay 20.24% (8th)
Penalty Kill 79.03% (6th)

Must do better.

Regards

Manchester are not good enough to stay 5 on 5 especially on a full size rink, their players get outskated and have to resort to committing fouls leading to the penalty kill figures you have shown, plus they play the traditional Storm way, too many cheap shots. They've maybe got one player who stands out to me ( D'aoust ) and looks like he could play at a higher level.

Manchester's big issue compared to last is goaltending. Wenniger just not re-producing last years form. Overall I don't think there's that much difference in quality of the roster year on year.
