I’ll probably stick Fife back on the do not bother list. Although this was for me one of the more entertaining games so far, which probably says it all against the bottom of the league.
The W is all that matters of course, but I still stand by that we’ll win zero silverware this season without some changes.
Thought McAdam deserved the MOM, he looked improved and solid all night.

I was quite optimistic early on but as things have settled down I'm afraid we are bang average, not exciting to watch and at the moment not very entertaining. Not sure what spin they are going to put on tonight's performance after trying to persuade us all they played well on Wednesday. Panthers to win the league by a street in my opinion, skilful ,competitive and generally pretty good to watch, hope to be proved wrong.

well its a win and 2 points but will also say that this team and league in general this year is very bland. no characters in the game anymore. would be nice to win and be entertained a little as well,,,, but i do keep getting season ticket but now am thinking more of maybe just next season getting tickets here and there as there only seems to be a good game now and then,,,,,, so better to pick and choose
Far from a performance of a championship winning team.
Too many misplaced passes.
Poor control of the puck.
Not enough speed breaking out. Fox likes his teams to play with pace. I'm struggling to see the pace in this team.
The only positives for me tonight are that we scraped the win and Cardiff/Belfast dropped points. Also a thumbs up for McAdam.
I really can't see past the Panthers this season for the title. Next Saturday is going to be interesting.
We really need a fully fit Juusola back, but don't disrupt the lines for him. Swap him with Gentile on the Gentile line.
Regards

We spent all evening shooting soft shots at the chest of the netminder, then when he was pulled we shot wide instead, At times this team is clueless. We had a chance of an extended 5 on 3 but kept the puck instead of giving it to them. The resultant 5 on 4 was empty again.

It's all very unconvincing from us so far this season. This game was another unconvincing in attack 5v5 with some continued shakiness in the D zone.
Yeah getting the results but it's all unattractive to watch.
I like Gentile-hes quite skilled, has some nice hands but his physicality or lack of is a major problem along with his lack of defensive nous. If we get Juusola fit it's a direct swap for me (not that his form was too hot before his injury).
Im not sure what Fox can do to improve the hockey from this team with the players he has.
I dont know what happened to the team that played some decent hard, fast hockey for 50 mins on Weds.

Maybe says something when Foxy sends Carter to do the interview. I think that some of our players are hyped up so much they begin to believe it and think they are better than they actually are.
Some of the passing and puck handling last night was poor and the shooting attempts were straight at the goalie mainly due to the fact that they have to trap the puck first rather than chance a slapshot. This gives the goalie and defence time to adjust.
Guildford are stronger now and tonight will tell us more. Panthers next week will be a watershed moment I think.

This team has great performances in them, for sure.. Coventry, Nottingham away and the Belfast and Cardiff at home spring to mind, but the main problem they can stink the house out the next game or couple of games. strangley, we are consistantly inconsistant... We stunk last night, no doubt and if we go to Guildford sunday night and play the same they will beat us easily...
We havent got a 4th line worth a mention because we havent got a decent brit in the team at the moment apart from dowd... and as a result we keep choping and changing lines 2 and 3 to shoehorn players into a 4th line with Tansey taking a forward spot, leaving our defence vunrable too.
I am not convinced with Reece Kelly and that leaves 5 import defenders and 3 forward lines in most games taking the brunt of the work load... only my observations guys...

I did think it was a more entertaining game than I feared - I was thinking it would go either blow-out, or dismal going through the motions - I thought there was more umph generally? Felt more positive in the wake of “that Cardiff game”.
Sad to say but feel like Pu is fading into the background a little… Gentile too as others have said - after what I thought looked promising pre and very early season :-(
Disappointing again, that Dowd and Jasper (who really shouldn’t be called on for the rough stuff - tho we all know Dowd is capable!) are the two willing to stand up for the guys… I thought McAdam was going to jump in on the Jasper 1v3!!… very sad to see. Mitchell Heard - let people take a lot of liberties, some major hits left unanswered too - I’m not saying we should be out there brawling every game, but this sort of thing is very telling - a together group look after each other.
Thought Ivan B-Nord looked good out there - more pace than Neilson and seemed like he was well positioning himself to look after his own end.
That all sounds very negative - but other than frustrated at all the “accepted liberties” - I thought there was more to like in this one.
Is it just me - or does Fifes goalie always stand on his head when they play us lol
Cheers

He stands on his head every game, he is a tremendous goalie, who I've never quite understood why he stays in Fife... Comfortably one of the better netminders every season...MLL79 wrote:I did think it was a more entertaining game than I feared - I was thinking it would go either blow-out, or dismal going through the motions - I thought there was more umph generally?
