Maybe akin to Mark Simpson? Looks like a great addition.

Hopefully at 6’6 he will be able to create some space for others too, certainly will help the PP to have such a big body sat in front of the crease.
I've just listened to the interviews and I think he'll be an upgrade on Simpson.

I was initially a little unsure about his DEL numbers, but it sounds like they were impacted by an early hand injury.

His AHL numbers are very good and would translate to 20+ in our league.

I was also pleased to hear he played a season at centre and took loads of faceoffs.

Fox also mentioned he was a good penalty killer, which was also a speciality of Simpson.

The more I hear about Gettinger the more positive I'm feeling.

Another comment in the interview was that we're not complete yet and a swing guy could be named by the middle of next week.

All sounds very positive - feels like a good pick up.

It feels like we have the makings of a very balanced team. Hopefully this translates into one where guys are working hard for each other.

I don't go on Facebook very often, but I just thought I'd have a look.

What's all this about wanting Vally to sign? - That ship sailed a few years ago. He was a great player for us, but now he's 37 and his numbers are falling away.

Gettinger gives us a much better chance of success than an ageing Vally.

Gettinger seems a very good fit for Steelers. We needed a big fella up there , we have been missing a body willing to stand in front of keepers
and make it tough for them . I hope he can play an Armstrong / Simpson role.

Perhaps this is the touted crazy signing lol

I guess if he’s willing to sit out mostly and chip in for one last season as a “filler-in” if needed it would suit all parties maybe? He’d be good for the locker room and be that character guy.

I’d suggest he’d need to have some speedy guys around him, Tait or Jasper maybe?

Crikey, we could have the choice then of an all NA, all Euro, all Brit or all Veteran lines lol
We could bamboozle teams with one differing style after another each shift! lol

Nice to see the Yorkshire Post doing The Star's job for them.

Probably the same people who will want Fox out if we fail this year, I loved Sir Marco when he was here but we want success at our club, signing ex aging players will get us absolutely no where.

I was having a read of The Cage and saw an interesting stat from Bobness on there, who is probably my favourite Panthers forum poster these days.

In periods 1 and 2 combined last season, the Steelers were 25 from 77 (32%) on the powerplay.

In the 3rd period we were 3 from 45 (7%).

That is more than just a statistical anomaly, there's something fundamental behind that.

The only things I can think of are:

- lack of fitness in the 3rd so we're not as mobile on the powerplay.

- when we're ahead in games we ease off the gas and play with less intensity in the 3rd.

- we panic when chasing a game and make bad choices on the powerplay, rushing our set plays rather than taking our time.

It could of course be a mixture of all 3.

His stats certainly suggest defence only.

Based on his +/- I'd guess he's a middle of the road ECHL quality player which is fine for a 7th d.

I wonder what the plan will be when Brine plays in goal. I would guess one of IBN or Steele sitting it out unless we have injuries, which is more than likely.
