For Hamonic the hit itself wasn’t dirty, but the fact Waller didn’t have the puck meant he’s ineligible to be hit in any manner so hitting him that hard is always going to get you a penalty.

Same with Louis, if he does that hit centre ice it’s okay but it’s his responsibility not to send him dangerously into the boards.
Hamonic is a seasoned pro who is expecting Waller to touch the puck - 9/10 Josh Waller takes control and tries to make a play. It wasn't malicious, it was hard, but its not worth a ban

I'm all for kicking out the cheap stuff, but when players are making honest plays it shouldn't be punished.

Another poster has mentioned they think Manchester's game is Goonery. I disagree. It's hard, physical hockey. They have more than a handful of players that will answer the bell to a hard hit, dirty play or to get things going.

When we had Fitzy and Desbiens or players of that mould, once Manchester stepped up the physicality it would be nipped in the bud because these guys would put a stop to it.

Some if our fans have short memories, Manchester have a couple of players in the exact mould of some our most liked players of the past, players that mixed it up, agitated the opposition Constantly and was a complete pain in arse not to mention lost the plot on occasion but could press the button and play with the best of em the next minute.. Springer isn't a lot different, he can certainly play and is no goon.. Pain in arse? Yes Goon? Not in my opinion..

The problem for Hamonic though is it’s written in the rule book that anticipating he’ll get the puck isn’t an excuse.

Think DoPS are going to be busy after tonight.

Not just Ellerby but Haas of Dundee can expect a ban coming his way I would have thought.

The worst thing about that was not one of the Giants "bigger" players even made an attempt to get at Haas.. Murphy is a small guy and should never have been the first to Hass. Had Keefe been on the ice he would have made sure he got to Haas, no matter what. At least Sheffield have some fortitude and spherical matter. Belfast players look to have been netured.

Ellerby has a fine and a 2 game suspension for the check to the head on Sunday.

Can't see anything in their assessment to disagree with.

Don’t think there was any danger of any more with the precedents set this season and other hits that have gone unpunished.

Bang on for me.

Haas also got 3 games for his charge, 2 for the hit + 1 for repeat offender.

The video gets sent abroad (allegedly) thus season so should hopefully cut out the bias that has plagued DOPs for years and it seems to be working okay.

Videos have been getting sent abroad for years, as it was one of the lines the EIHL gave after the fallout of the Tyson Marsh incident.

Fair punishment for me too. Was great to see Louis jump straight in to try and protect his player. Shame not many of ours players do that.
