I'd rather see him play before I make an opinion.
As it should be, I dont have any negative opinion of his playing standard at all, only to state I would have prefered a 6ft+ brick outhouse defender at first glance..
Totally agree there. Wanted a big D man or maybe even a big power forward. But we got a 5foot 7” agitator.
Nothing wrong with an agitator. Our issue which is very apparent under Fox is that we don’t have a tough guy to back them up. I was hoping Ellerby would fill that role, but I’ve not seen anything like that from him.
Think the days of Vial, Allison, Fitzy are long gone, our fighter this season appears to be Dowd!

Each to there own but I love a Colt King type player but would appear that the EIHL seems to be pulling away from that.
Those are some pretty tough characters. The game has changed, but I personally don't think it can sustain this with all of the 'cheap' stuff happening without a reply. If you have ever heard of Mark Messier, I think he could rule the NHL today and he is 60!!! lol

Colt King must be one of our toughest ever?

The thing with King was that he could actually play hockey at this level - just under a point a game with his time with us

This team would be perfect with Desbiens right now

These were 2 players who certainly kept other teams honest. They could play a good game, knew their role and didn’t often have to do anything else.

Dennis Vial wasn't too bad a player either. Problem is , if you can play, police, enforce and protect all while either producing points on the board or being a defensively reliable player then this league usually cannot afford you.

Bit harsh on Fitzy, Desbiens.

At just under 250 NHL games ? , that's not harsh. Fitzy and Desbiens were great players for us , but Vial was a step up from them.

Vial is the toughest player I’ve ever seen in a Steelers shirt. Desbiens and Fitzy were great but a loooong way behind any of our players in the Grand Slam season.

Wonder if we are in the market for any new players before the deadline closes?

No I don’t think we have much budget left for anyone who would improve us in the short term we’d need a player of first line quality for that to happen. When we signed Valdix and Traversa the writing was on the wall for a player capable of putting up goals. Hope I’m wrong and Tony is capable of allowing Aaron to find us a gem, their out there but he may after dig a little deeper in his pocket if he wants the title this year.
