Our shootout record speaks for itself, wonder how many points we’ve dropped from bottling those? Rok certainly is decent at saving them.
Hopefully Fox & the side have already put this weekend behind them and are looking to get ready for playoff hockey. Can rest some bodies this week.

I echo the above words, I am disappointed and honestly a tad upset, but that's hockey for us isn't it? Belfast were undoubtedly the best in the league this season but a litlle luck especially with the horrendous injury list and a bounce here or there and we could have won both the challange Cup and the league.
So not a mile away from a great team.
I feel a stud netminder and a overall younger squad should be priority for next seasons tweaks.. Starting from the back..
I don't think you can rule us out of the playoffs just yet, but you have to fancy Belfast for the Triple..

We hit the post/bar 4 times in that game. So near but so far. I hoped we wouldn’t go down with a whimper and I don’t think we did.
Congrats to Belfast.
Definitely need some new personnel.

Thought we deserved to win that one. 3rd period though we couldn’t find the energy.
Whilst Belfast probably deserve the title, if accepting runner up for the Steelers is enough, I’m afraid it ain’t enough for me.

The best team has won the league as Doom says the stats tell the story. Many small aspects for consideration with regards to why we just didn't have enough to get us over the line.
With regards to the game itself, I thought we were the better team on the night and did enough to justify getting the result in 60 mins (duh bar scoring one more goal than them).
Just a point about refs calling pens or not calling pens.
The refs called Vally in the first minute from which Giants scored their only goal of the game. That goal had a big influence on the result outcome.
In the last 4-5 minutes there were two blatant pens that should have been called on Giants.
This thing about keeping the Whistle in the pockets to not influence an outcome of the game is that it only works for me if you either call nothing for the whole 60 or call everything for the whole 60.

I don't think it's enough for any Steelers fans, that's why we get the arrogant tag.. And why our own social media driven gumph promotes it, only for it to turn on its own fans when they express that exact philosophy..smbmetal wrote:Thought we deserved to win that one. 3rd period though we couldn’t find the energy.

Often perspective can alter our opinions one or two days after a bad loss etc, but we has fans raurly accept second best!

You just have to look at the goalscorer tables to see we were shy in natural goal scorers which shows in our poor penalty shoot out record. Giants have three in the top three, four in top ten. We have Vally only and he's in 8th spot.SteelerBlade wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 7:10 pmOur shootout record speaks for itself, wonder how many points we’ve dropped from bottling those? Rok certainly is decent at saving them.
Hopefully Fox & the side have already put this weekend behind them and are looking to get ready for playoff hockey. Can rest some bodies this week.

So in the end it's congratulations to the Giants.
The best team always wins the league, but that's not always the case with the play offs, so onwards and upwards.

Vallerand is an elite player at EIHL level. Belfast have 3 in that category if not more. Cardiff have 2 if you argue Crandall as the provider to Reid.paul johnston wrote:You just have to look at the goalscorer tables to see we were shy in natural goal scorers which shows in our poor penalty shoot out record.
