John Armstrong has retired from hockey aged 34.
Although last season wasn’t his best, he’s been a fantastic servant over 5 seasons winning a playoff title and a challenge cup.
He iced 274 times for the club.

A great servant to the club, very reliable player who scored some huge goals for us over the years. A good face-off man who played all situations! Sure he looked less of that player this season but still will be hugely missed, a fan favourite and another retiree to add to the list.
That's 2 centers minimum required with him and Hodgman retiring and maybe Polak too?

Been a great servant to the club over the years. Upset opposition fans for his interaction with netminders
. Don't think the COVID break did him any favours. Probably went on for one too many seasons. Thanks and wish him all the best .

It's sad when guys who have played several years with us either don't get re-signed or retire.
I have always been frustrated with John. I've seen him dominate a game and thought wow he should be playing at a higher level. Then would be 5-10 games before he put in a similar performance.
I do think the extended Covid gap along with his age resulted in one of his weaker years this year.
I wish him well for the future another one who seems a good guy.
So another off season of looking for at least two new centres. I think will be at least three because I don't think Fox will re-sign Polak.

One of our favourite players, but time eventually caught up with him.
12 goals this season, but the number of assists and PIM have reversed from the last full season.
Our favourite moment was his delay of game penalty at the end of the Challenge Cup with about 6 seconds to go, killing a few precious seconds. His raised, bearded chin as he sauntered to the penalty box was just fantastic.
We wish him all the best for the future.

As fans we wish him All the best in retirement and hope to see him back for Dowds testermonial. We need to replace the John Armstrong from 2 seasons back with another big centre, preferably with a player/s not a year away from retirement.. There is no coincidence we were getting veterans on their way down, rather than players on their way up.. Its hard to find that balance but we may have 5/6 of our current squad retiring.. I think that says a lot about our talented players..
