And it may be a great deal more if it wasn't for Shane Owen, he kept them in it at times last night... that along with the Steelers forwards inability to shoot for the corners...mark wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 12:11 pmMe too Jay, if you are just a little off your game you are likely to lose. Although there was a Fife fan on Facebook claiming the only reason they were bottom is because of poor refereeing, probably that part where they point at the Fife net and signal another goal against them....

I will just leave this here... but I did Say...Jayboy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 11:42 amI've been banging on about teams in the EIHL this season to anyone who will listen... I really do think some fans expect to much... as a example my lad brought along his mate to this game and I overheard him telling him we would demolish Fife, I had to put him right and explain a few things! for a start the bottom five teams have just 4/5 points between them a couple of wins and losses puts any one of them mid pack! Then you look at the top 5 and it's a similar story they have 6/7 points from top down to 5th.. over Christmas you could lose a couple and your fighting team that were bottom a few week back.. this top versus bottom is utter nonsense to me, every team can win or lose on any given night especially if one has an off night or has injury problems and the other is on a good run of form....![]()

Massively disagree. Petgrave was in absolutely phenomenal form and not putting a foot wrong. Luckily Cormier has been a gem of a pick up so we haven't dropped off team D wise after losing Petgrave.Nathan wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 1:20 amOur D is better without Petgrave imo.Woodsy wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2023 10:56 pmJust looked at the player stats, Fife only had one less player than us so not that short benched I guess?
I do think losing Petgrave then Jones has unbalanced our defence even if we do have the numbers overall. I'd much rather have Shudra up front with the form he was in.

Definitely agree. The standard of the league is a lot tighter top to bottom this year. Only takes an off night or a couple of bounces to go one way for an 'underdog' to win.Jayboy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 11:42 amI've been banging on about teams in the EIHL this season to anyone who will listen... Also think our D is probably playing a little bit more restrained physically with Jones being out - we don't need further injuries or suspensions. I don't believe it's being coached out of them - honestly it's just nonsense. Tansey will always be physical, but he's picking his opportunities rather than making 50/50 hits that could result in penalties. Think when Jones is back we'll see it step back up a bit to early season levels, especially as we get in to the stretch
