Have to play different rules now days?
What's your thoughts, any lady members play hockey, do you think in this more equal times, the ladies should play the exact same rules as the men, is it fair they don't?
I've just been watching the GB ladies and got to wondering if the rules should be different, I don't know any other sport ( I may be wrong) where the women's version of the sport has different rules!
Would you play in open masks if you could, would you allow checking, shouldn't you be able to decide to play hockey to same rules.

What does everyone thing, are the different rules better or safer, and if so why.

Just to add, every lady I have ever spoke to that played and I know a few, have always told me they should plact full contact like the men..

Friendly debate people please...

Are the players professionals or backed by the lottery or other funding methods or do they have regular jobs outside of hockey?

Would that matter to the rules they play to?

It might make you think differently about safety equipment if a hockey injury were to prevent you working.

I would want to ask the women that actually play to understand whether or not the rules needs to be different. I’m not close enough to the rules etc to understand why.

There must be a reason why the rules are different to the men’s game.

I read an article a while back (must be at least 5 years) where women in NA leagues were trying to set up an alternate league where the rules could be align with men's game, I wonder if anything ever came of that?

I think if there was a big enough desire from female players to play men’s rules then it would have happened before now.

Like Jay, I watched the GB women playing and found it entertaining enough to see all three games. I thought they did remarkably well especially against the much higher ranked Korean side. The more restrictive contact rules were at times hard to understand but I soon got into the general way things are. Perhaps our beloved Premier commentators could have done more to explain the differences or perhaps I missed it. I would watch them again.
As for Jay’s question, I’m sure those who play should decide and some sort of survey would be interesting. I imagine the main obstacle to any change is getting the whole international scene to agree.
