It is, and to be fair something we have all been asking for. It's fair to say his reliance of plan A rolling 3-4 lines hasn't been enough to get us over the line. Adding a bit of edge, bump and grind with the forwards is hopefully encouraging.Doom wrote: ↑Tue Jul 26, 2022 9:50 amThis is slightly different to Fox's usual signings, with him being straight from North America with no European experience.SteelerBlade wrote: ↑Tue Jul 26, 2022 9:23 amThe only risk here really is the fact he’s not experienced the big ice of Europe. Looks enthusiastic and is a good age with size.
Hopefully he can have a career year with us.
His ECHL numbers aren't great, I've got him down for 15 goals based on those. However, what's always difficult to judge is how a player switches from the smaller rinks of North America to the larger European ice.
If Mitchell skates well, as suggested, then maybe he'll punch above his weight in terms of predicted goals.
It's these sort of signings that Belfast have really excelled at, hopefully Fox's judgement is just as good.
Petgrave is a safe signing with most boxes ticked, but this one really intrigues me because it's a move from the norm for Fox.

I hope it's not just hype and we really do have a player that is prepared to stick up for his team mates. How many times have many of us said that we were bullied in our own rink etc. I'm being wary though, as last time we were told this with Ellerby and that didn't turn out to be the case.
He won't be short of a dancing partner though when we play Nottingham, I'm sure 3,000 PIM's Mr Hunt will oblige with back up from Gangon.

Although he says he doesn’t mind dropping the gloves he averages 1 fight per season. Can pretty much say dropping them with proper heavyweight fighters like Gagnon or Hunt won’t end very well for him. BUT I for one am glad we’re getting a bit grittier this season.smbmetal wrote: ↑Tue Jul 26, 2022 11:32 amI hope it's not just hype and we really do have a player that is prepared to stick up for his team mates. Winning the fight is only the cherry on the cake a great deal of the time and one I love to see, but having one or more team mates totally prepared to do it especially at the right moment, sends a message much louder than winning a scrap with the likes of Hunt or especially Gangon.

Mitchell himself has confirmed he was of interest to Cardiff & Nottingham this summer.

Always interesting to see how most people compare our signings to other teams', especially when players we (and they) sign most often will have had offers from other clubs, I'd imagine most of the time from the likes of Cardiff, Notts and Belfast.SteelerBlade wrote: ↑Tue Jul 26, 2022 3:08 pmMitchell himself has confirmed he was of interest to Cardiff & Nottingham this summer.
I think it's easier to big up other teams signings and be negative on your own without even seeing them on the ice once.

The signing screams out that the team this season will not be bullied around.
Has played at AHL level with numerous NHL alumni so can't be that bad at all. About time we had someone like this in the roster, and at 28 he's probably got plenty of good years ahead of him.

No Mason Mitchell for 6-8 weeks due to lower body injury!
Signed a Czech league 2 replacement for two months with the option to sign for the season sounds like Mitchell didn’t want to come really his interview was the least enthusiastic imo
