Would have been great 5 years ago but at his age, his size and then the year or so out where he obviously wasn't training it was several steps too far. Quite frankly should have been binned when arrived so unfit. Never looked as if he was too enamoured to be here.

I'm delighted that common sense prevails.
He came in unfit(I git twitter bashed for sating the obvious) and never looked good enough for me, people liked him because he played a fee games in the NHL. It's always the case in tgus league if he did something on his cv he must be good.

Della Rovere also played in the NHL, he was woefull.

Also we had been crying out for a .9+ goalie, Rok was .92 and he didn't get much credit

It was a shame with Barry as I was really looking forward to seeing him play.

I think Rok got quite a bit of credit to be honest, certainly on here. I for one thought he came in and did a very good job considering it appeared a very last minute recruitment decision.

Whilst he had a great save %, I still wouldn't have wanted him back as our number one. I don't believe he really stole us a win which is what I would want my stud number 1 goalie to do and I thought he was weak on his 5 hole.

But I do think Rok got the deserved credit for stepping in and doing us a good job.

It's a great point, how long is it since we've had a netminder that has won us a game that we had no right to win? I'm with you we are crying out for a number 1 that can do that for us.

Rok did a very good job for us, like Sbmetal says he was very weak on his 5 hole and gave away easy goals that a stud goalie saves all night long. Another season with lesser quality tenders in the EIHL we would of won the league with Rok but Carruth and Besko were a standard above. When we played Cardiff I think the first game at home last season we edged the win, it was the first period we must of hit 12-15 direct shots at Carruths net he stopped them all, a lesser goalie 1-2 of them are going in,that’s the difference.

So 4-5 years which corresponds to our lack of league title success. Coincidence or not?🤔

Definitely not, but then again I've been banging on about it, to anyone that would listen for at least 4 years anyway that and our woeful defence...

Think out of the arena sides under the Smith tenure we have only won 5 trophies and 2 league titles.

Less than

NOTTINGHAM
BELFAST
CARDIFF

I think Smith has been a very good owner and apart from his first season when he had to be careful with the finances, he's backed his coaches financially.

I think his biggest mistake was getting rid of Gerad Adams. We'll never know, but my gut feeling is we would have won a lot more had Gerad remained in charge.

We're told there is a wage agreement between the teams and I'm confident that Smith will be backing Fox up to the limit. The question is whether Fox can get as much out of our budget as Keefe is getting out of his......I guess time will tell.

Are we using Uni deals again this season?

I think if clubs are using Uni deals they should count against the wage agreement, otherwise its just another way of getting a financial edge over your opponents.

Under Tony Smith we have had the greatest financial stability in the history of the Steelers without a doubt. He has grown the product, the fan base and the game day experience.
Unfortunately the on ice success hasn’t grown and that needs addressing.
Fans don’t expect to win automatically but they expect to compete with at least a trophy or a final for a trophy within the season. Not even making the playoffs last season was a huge disappointment for the club and without doubt hit the league financially with neither us or the Panthers making the final 4.
