GAME THREAD: Sheffield Steelers v Manchester Storm Saturday, 17th September 7:00pm

6-2 Steelers. Cardiff hammered them 8-1 in Storm's last game.
Stream for me, not particularly interested in CC games from a personal perspective.
Warburton or McLaughlin to start?
Extra minutes for Whistle, Shudra and Graham if available.

Think we should win this comfortably although I don't think we'll hammer them like Cardiff did. Not sure with the present confidence and results that Fox will want to start a second string net minder though. Maybe for the second half of the game if we've made a strong start.
BTW the header for the poll needs editing (Dundee Storm?).

Normally I would agree and say that this would be an ideal chance to give the younger guys more ice time, however, I would say at this stage and with the games we've had so far I would like to see us try and build some confidence and momentum as a team and some more chemistry and production amongst the lines we've seen Fox stick to recently.
Quite a few of the forwards could use some goals and points to help get them going in terms of production, I was glad to see we tightened up in defense on Sunday and we want to string together some good defensive performances as well as starting to find the goals we have done in previous seasons under Fox's reign.
I'd hope we would win this one as Storm struggle away from home to say the least in terms of results - would love to see us put 5+ goals up whilst playing solid team defense. I'll go for 6-2 Steelers with goals for Ciampini, Neumann, Latal, Dowd and Connolly in there! The other goal can be up for grabs

Even though Cardiff completely thrashed them, I think Manchester are on the rise. I say they can't beat us tomorrow, on our home ice but as they go on and get used to a bigger venue than their own, they might make our lives a bit harder later on in the season.
People say the CC is pointless, but I agree with what Jono said. Think about it like this, you have a choice between two players. They both have the same nationality, age, size, etc... One has 20 trophies to his name, the other has 1. Who do you choose?
(tbh I have no idea how the first bloke got 20, it's just theoretical)
I'm there tomorrow yay!

I don't think this will be as straightforward as some people think.
Against Cardiff Manchester probably had the better of the 1st period and it was only at the end Cardiff scored. After that it does appear Manchester went to pieces, but if they'd got the 1st goal it could have been a different game.
Last night on home ice they battered Panthers 5 - 1.
If we have ambitions of winning titles we should be beating them, but they're no mugs.
I'd go in with the strongest team possible and treat them with absolute respect. I'm wanting to see if some of the players we still have big question marks over can perform in a game like this.
Regards

Interesting result against Panthers last night. I’m gonna go 3-1 Steelers in reg.
