So people are moaning about Cons doing the same as he has always done and always will do and for the most part why he is liked and maybe disliked in equal measure lol

Dear Connolly,

Don't be yourself, you naughty man. Don't play how you play best. Don't be the brilliant physical player that you are. Don't play at your best because you're being careful. Pete Russell said you play best when your taking penalties, but don't listen to that naughty Scottish man. What does he know about hockey? Honestly, no idea why you're so popular.

I don’t mind Connolly taking penalties, he will draw his fair share. But taking 2 penalties in the last few minutes when we are 1 goal up is brain dead play to me.

Interesting to note on the podcast after the game, there was the idea Raska could be dropped in favour of Mitchell, with Connolly moving back to centre. I wouldn’t mind seeing that

That would be a very unpopular decision. I've heard people speaking very highly of Raska, and I must admit I'm pretty fond of him myself. Also, it would be unfair to Raska because he likes it here. He said himself that he wished he could end his career here. This would be purely rejection and they WOULD be burned for that.

Pretty sure he meant temporarily. I.e. scratched not dropped.

In any case as someone said, the injury to Mosey means we don't have to sit any forward yet. And no doubt other injuries will happen too.

I'd never describe Connolly as a "brilliant physical player" at all. He in fact doesnt quite turtle when players get annoyed with his agitating but near enough. There's a fine line between good agitation and taking stupid penalties that could cost us the game., and at the moment he's more the latter than the former.
This is the thing that I posted earlier. His persona and popularity is pulling the wool over people's eyes currently as his form is below what we expect and from him.

Non homegrowns are capped at 14 this season. With the addition of Pitule, we are at 16. Dropping at least one is better than none.

Not sure what you're saying, sorry.

16 signed but 3 are injured at the moment- Östlund Mosey and Mitchell. If Mitchell becomes available shortly as anticipated, we will only have 14 available at that time, so won't need to sit another player such as Raska or whoever else.

Unless I'm mistaken.

If Coventry had not taken the face -off violation we would have been down to a 5 on 3 for much longer! being 3.2 up in the game with minutes to play and then taking dumb penalties isn't the way to play any game! never mind ice hockey! Imagine what the National Coach might say if you did that in the last 3 minutes of a world championship game!!!!
A complete idiot in my option!

Having watched the highlights the penalty taken by Connolly was ridiculous and could have cost us the game.

I know he plays with an edge and draws plenty of penalties, but what he did on Sunday was stupid. I just wonder if it was a frustration penalty because he's struggling at the moment. No doubt the mind is willing, but is the body?

Because of his form in the past I'd suggest he does get some slack, but there will come a point whereby it becomes clear he's struggling to capture his old form and he needs to come into the equation regarding who gets left out.

It would be unfair to sit a Raska or Pitule if they're performing better than Connolly.

With the injuries at the moment it isn't a consideration, but it probably will be at some point in the season.

If we can afford a spare I wouldn't want to get rid of anybody, it would just be a case of who sits out any given evening and Connolly would need to come into that conersation.

Regards

Doom
