There was a twitter feed from 4000 and counting which whilst not saying anything used choice words that would get me in trouble to describe the league.

I seem to recall this user was involved with Manchester Phoenix in the past.

What a turn around, I've spoke to many a hockey fan in the past that class planet ice and it's owners as the devil incarnate.

This is very similar to what I heard. As an extra, SIV want any sale of IS to include the grass bowl, plus some additional land (at least from what I heard). PI don't want that so this to me looks like PI trying to force SIV (since very closely connected to council etc) to sell, by trying to leverage lack of NIHL hockey team as a negotiating tactic.

If indeed this all turns out to be correct, PI are absolutely the problem.

I have never heard anyone from the hockey community say anything good about planet ice.

Having just been to the Planet Ice National Artistic Figure Skating competition what is obvious and confirmed by speaking to others is there is a definite split in their rinks they are either Hockey or Figure Skating.
This rinks that have a strong Hockey team and focus like Leeds, Peterborough, Milton Keynes the figure skaters are almost treated as second class citizens whereas those rinks that don’t have a good Hockey team, like Hemel Hempstead, Uttoxer and Manchester did really well Image
