Game over
Steelers 2-3 Devils
Steelers 2-3 Devils
I’m afraid we have another classic Fox team, even this early in the season.
Playing well for one period will not bring success. Until the 3rd period we were out worked and out coached. The amount of sloppy play and poor passing was alarming. 1 out of 5 PP’s isn’t good enough either.
Whilst I knew the physical side would be coached out of the players quickly, I really hoped that Fox had seen the light. Tansey was almost invisible.
I hope Watling just had an off game and we haven’t got a player that only plays well when we’re winning, cause he was also one of the invisible men for me today.
I said it last season and I’ll say it again this season, we will not win a League Championship with Fox in charge.
These are critical games to be winning in our own barn, not getting excited beating a poor Panthers side in a far less important competition.

So why did we lose? Several important factors. A dreadful lacklustre start, giving away offensive zone penalties, we lost virtually all of the individual battles. Time after time devils came out with the puck. Frequent poor puck control. That old chestnut, a hallmark of the Fox era, toothless power plays. Oh dear. At least they played for one period but far too late.

Now that we've finished pre-season we've forgotten how to play physical in our d zone.
Main issue was stupid pens given away especially the neumann one early which gifted them the good start. Then sloppy on next shift and just like that 2 goals down.
Too many players had an off night, too many penalties, too much sloppy passing.
His line messing chasing the game was odd too. Simpson who's been one of our reliable, consistent forwards benched for most of third whilst a couple who had stinkers continued to ice. He makes a lot of bizzarre choices like that.

Our opening 5 lost us that. Cardiff were on it from puck drop. They dealt with the schedule change far better and it won them the fixture.

The better coached and drilled team won tonight. Chasing the puck all game and when we had it back we were pushed off it easily. Foxy bleats on about playing for a full 60, pity he didnt enforce that on the players tonight. No standouts tonight but poor from vallerand / saucerman and most of team. Should be wining home games and making a statement, bit it was the devils who made that statement tonight {we are better than you }
