"But those very freak things happen. You get pushed from behind and you stay on one foot and the other foot comes up. I took a skate blade to my visor in our last preseason game, just this year. So I was a couple inches away from being cut somewhere"
In the continued absence of our own celebrated hockey correspondent and a deafening silence from anyone else at The Star despite having a world wide story happening under their noses at least some correspondents continue to produce informative and relevant stories.

As for our local rag, where’s the “Purveyor of news” gone?
I'm going to take a guess here. As I understand it he actually retired a while ago but continued to report on the Steelers as a contributor, as such he could walk away anytime he wants, it's possible he has chosen to do that, or he may have been subject to internal action by the Star, or of course he may just be keeping his head down for a while until this has passed. In the meantime no one else at the Star seems to have been given the task to take over, to be 4 days after the event and have no reporting/comment is unusual and not exactly providing a service to their customers. There are far fewer staff on these publications than many realise, a consequence of the changes in the industry not limited to just this paper but many others across the country. If you are looking for local media people who could step in, who also have an understanding and a passion for the sport then apart from Peter Spencer or Seth Bennet I can't think of anyone , and both of those people already have jobs.
I am delighted to read that TJ Oshie has bought neck protecting equipment for he and some team mates to try. I wear an Oshie 74 shirt from his Blues days before he moved to Washington. There are personal reasons for this shirt as well as my admiration for Oshie. Come on the rest of you in NHL.
