To the mods
I think you should start a thread for "comments" on this incident separate to the "thoughts an prayers" thread, its getting a little chaotic with opinions being thrown in.

I disagree, I dont see the need to keep going on about the actual incident, most of us saw it in one form or another and the conclusion for me is tragic accident. I am not prepared to open up a debate on that... Sorry
We will delete any unnecessary comments we feel are not on topic..

I’ve been lucky enough not to see it, either live, via the stream or on social media sources. I have no interest in seeking it out either.Jayboy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 5:20 pmI disagree, I dont see the need to keep going on about the actual incident, most of us saw it in one form or another and the conclusion for me is tragic accident. For those that saw it live, my full sympathies and as already mentioned these types of traumas can take days to sink in, please keep an eye on the people that have seen it live as everyone can react differently.
No doubt, our game we all love and enjoy has changed forever, especially in the UK.
Let’s hope we see some positive changes to the overall game, like compulsory neck guards as a league ruling for example.
Will the NHL follow? I have my doubts I’m afraid.

I didn't mean to make comments, I meant for somewhere else for people to comment other than on a tribute thread.Jayboy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 5:20 pmI disagree, I dont see the need to keep going on about the actual incident, most of us saw it in one form or another and the conclusion for me is tragic accident. I saw the incident close up, but have no wish to comment.

Hello I was at the game yesterday and it was the most horrifying thing that I have witnessed in my entire life. I was at the FA cup semi-final but fortunately I was far enough away not to see a lot but Saturday was something else I think like a lot of people I am still in shock and and still cannot quite believe it. I would like to say that everyone who tried to help Adam at the arena were amazing and it was very thoughtful of Robert Dowd to get the players to form a ring around Adam whilst on the ice before the screens arrived when i bet they all wanted to be as far away from the scene as possible it was very good.
I would also like to say that as a Panthers fan there is not love lost between the Steelers and Panthers I can still remember the battle of lower parliment street it was about my third ever game as was hooked after that occasionally passion gets the better of us at times and things are said that are not appropriate if Simmsey know what I mean but in the heat of the moment we can forgive him.
Finally I would like to say that i am absolutely disgusted with the abuse Matt Petgrave is getting to what was a tragic accident I bet he is in pieces about what has happened and I really hope that he is getting the support he needs to help him come to terms with what has happened I am not sure he will ever get over it hopefully he manages to get things sorted in his head. I know this next point is possibly not able to be done but could a message be sent to Matt telling him that he has a place in my heart and i hope that I will see him once again on the ice.
Many regards from a Panthers fan

Your comments are much appreciated and show that hockey fans can unite as a ‘family’ no matter what the colour of our shirt.Panthermatt1974 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 7:42 pmHello I was at the game yesterday and it was the most horrifying thing that I have witnessed in my entire life. I can’t read it, assume it’s been removed due to an outcry over his report. I don’t know the guy, but he took a lot of heat on Twitter, assume his employers have had complaints and have removed his article. Such a shame he can’t read the room and chose to try and justify, rather than offer a simple apology.mark wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 10:51 amWell I've read Bob W's article in the Star explaining why he posted on Twitter what he did but I am astounded to see there is no apology for those he caused distress to by his post, intentionally or not he clearly did do so and the fact he deleted the post shows he was aware of it. No apology, no contrition. We are all human and can make mistakes, apologising afterwards when we do so is important.

It’s been a horrendous weekend, can’t and won’t watch the video but my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones, as well as all the players and officials on the ice. This is something I never thought we’d see and even reading about it is distressing, so I can’t imagine the impact on all those who had to witness this live, something that will stay with you for a long time.
You’ve also got to wonder if the Panthers will play again this season.
Everyone impacted is in my thoughts and prayers…

Over on The Cage they have gathered together some amazing tributes to Adam from across the hockey world. It is heart rending but shows the respect this young man has earned in his tragically short career. A short life but well lived
